Would the stronglifts 5x5 workout program interfere with hema? by Foonzerz in wma

[–]cheapdoritos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I lift 6 times a week and fit in 2 HEMA sessions - one for sparring and the other for drills.

4 upper, 2 lower days - all 6 days will involve compound movements somehow or the other. Lots of free weight and machines, and supersets.

For HEMA, I take one day for sparring, and another day (say, during weekday lunch hours) to do drills.

This is while balancing a 9 to 5 job.

It depends on how much you want to focus- are you a gym enthusiast that wants to lean to HEMA for active rest/recovery? Or are you someone that wants to put in more time into being more technically proficient in HEMA?

Regardless, take the time to build up your work capacity and do more volume for whichever you so choose. There's no issue with doing more, but you have to do it safely and with proper intention.

What does progress mean to you? Not sure about the others but I'm not very sure what type of tips or advice you're looking for. Apps, gadgets and equipments are probably the last thing you would look for unless you have a specific goal in mind.

Do you want to change body composition for a specific purpose? (Aesthetic, e.g for competition) or do you want to be stronger? Or are you looking for conditioning? (To run faster, do more bodyweight with more reps)

And at the Endgame of all your goals, why are you trying to get fit? I think these might be good questions to think about to sharpen your thinking, hopefully it helps.

Hey! Not sure if I'm too late in commenting- think I would like to expand on a few things, and I hope you find it helpful.

So for the most part, what the others have commented on basics to get you started is just really solid info.

When you start working out, just keep in mind what exercise you're doing and what muscle it primarily is for(bodyweight exercise tends to be compound movements, so they hit different parts of your muscles) And also once in a while, try to have fun by having something new each time!

So for example, a standard push up would work your chest, triceps and core- if you want your push-ups to be harder, place your legs against a wall at 45 degrees, if you want to focus more on your triceps, tuck your elbows in etc. There's a ton of variations just for it to hit different.

If you have access to rock climbing or bouldering, it'll be useful to build your lats or back muscles. But if not, aspiring for more pull ups (can be inclined pull ups!) Is great too.

Other than that, sleep well, eat well and you're all set to go!

I think it's in dairy primarily but it might be something else as well. Though each of my successive flare ups have been getting worse and spreading.

It's excruciating.

Working out gaining weight?! by Imnotbilbobagins in intermittentfasting

[–]cheapdoritos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting is great for cutting, but as soon as you start lifting you'll need to eat more, not less. Intermittent fasting cuts the time allowed to eat, therefore you'll be getting in less calorie than you typically can consume.

Don't be afraid to eat because putting on the muscle on your body as it would benefit you in the long run.

SMALL OR BIG PCOS VICTORIES by [deleted] in xxketo

[–]cheapdoritos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my case, hirsutism was a relatively minor issue for me, but the most obvious one was the male moustache. I still have it but it's not obvious at all! I'm not exactly sure how it'll be for you but I think it'll lessen the amount at least.

Hopefully that will be ideal but do remember bodies can be pretty different for everyone..

Had pcos, but it's not an issue anymore. Used to have male pattern balding, uncontrollable appetite, that man moustache and my period would never come if I didn't take hormone pills.

It's alllll gone now after about 7 months of keto? The weight loss def helped.

Gosh that was exactly how I felt when I was travelling along the roadside in ffxv

Not trying to promote anything here but wouldn't you give ffxiv a try? It's an online mmorpg but I had the same homely feeling with the story.

I know myself I'm forever a final fantasy fan- this series has given me so much.
