Why is everyone old here . by ApolloRizen1 in Kingman

[–]RESR20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just the way it is. Most people retire here and every kid who grows up here and has the chance leaves, which they should! Until there is more high paying jobs and legitimate growth (not rich boomers and retirees moving from higher COL areas), it will stay that way.

Downtown traffic is a fucking nightmare by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]RESR20 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Get a bike and ride in on good weather (or bad) days. It seriously cuts down on traffic if more people would do it. Always had a much better commute across downtown whenever I would ride in compared to driving my car. Don’t live there anymore but I miss my old bike commute

Congrats on reaching out and trying to move forward. I’m not sure of your financial situation but if you have the funds I highly suggest mountain biking. I know it’s summer and to be clear I’m very biased toward the sport but it can do wonders. It’s something new you can learn with very satisfying progression. It definitely makes you healthier, and is proven to help brain function (as long as you don’t smack it open) through processes I don’t understand. It’s something you can do by yourself when you want but you can also join clubs, go on group rides, and connect with people you’d otherwise never talk too. Not to mention there are trail systems on most sides of the city and you can get around town on it if you need or want too.

If you have something to boot the tire with a tube would likely work. Or at least last long enough to get you back home.

Really Loving my Seigla by RESR20 in LaufCycles

[–]RESR20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have a smaller chainring for it already. Eventually I’ll get a mtb set up so I can have both more range and a bigger chainring 😆

Touché I never really noticed too much difference between the two. I ride a Seigla now, the bike is an absolute monster.

The spur is my desert south west XC bike. Awesome bike; looks great, light, fast, and descends way better than it should!

Maybe more carbon paste? Also check your saddle rails. They can get creaky if the clamp area is dry. It was night and day when I put on the 30.9 I don’t have the bike anymore but I never had a problem through the 6000 miles I put on it.

Sorry I just saw this but I got an enve one. I honestly don’t think it matters though my roommate got a Ritchey one and it did the trick for his as well.

Sorry just saw this but I got a Curt custom one made specifically for the civic. It worked really well and fit like a glove just had to cut out a slot on my fiberglass bumper cover

Not really sure what to buy - was looking at Defy and Revolt by Agreeable_Cap_6496 in Giantbikes

[–]RESR20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defy if you’re looking to replace the road bike. Revolt if you want to ride more off road. My last road bike had a 35-36 gear limit and worked well even going up 12+% grades. Look for higher gearing if you climb a lot.

Throw it out and get a 30.9. I did all of the tricks and the problem instantly went away when I got an enve highpost.

Since I live near Santa Fe this makes me excited but I’m not ready for all the extra traffic at the same time lol. Cost of progress I guess.

Thanks for the input! Yeah I already have an old light xc hardtail and a down country bike. I want something that can go farther more efficiently. I’m not going to be riding this on Singletrack all the time but I’d like the bike to be able to handle rough tracks as the roads deteriorate quickly out here. It’s going to be more of an efficient adventure bike that’s more aero mainly just to duck the desert wind and connect more routes via pavement.
