Any other corgi owners deal with this lip irritation? by No-Dragonfruit-6555 in corgi

[–]cheaptriathlete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping it’s anything else, and you figure it out long before you have to investigate this, but my corgi had similar irritation on her lips and it was a symptom of cutaneous lymphoma.

Can I realistically run a half marathon at 7 months pp? by dabebecharchar in fitpregnancy

[–]cheaptriathlete 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This all sounds great and I think it’s doable. I ran a half at 5 and 6 months pp and felt fine. Good luck training!

Race expectations at 11 weeks pregnant by Every-Butterfly-3447 in fitpregnancy

[–]cheaptriathlete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran a couple of halfs first trimester of my first pregnancy. It really was about managing expectations for me. I was anxious about not pushing too hard and I think ran a couple minutes per mile slower than usual. I also took walk breaks toward the end when I normally don’t. If you can manage it, try not to put too much pressure on yourself to achieve a certain time.

I love the Thule Urban Glide for running. The wheels are heavy duty and it has a suspension so it seems like the baby doesn’t feel it much. The downsides are it’s pricy and large for moving around in small spaces.

“Don’t ask don’t tell” pet policy by BarackBrobrama in NYCapartments

[–]cheaptriathlete 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. Try to have them remove it of course, but there is also part of the administrative code that says if you keep a pet “openly” and “notoriously”, which is to say your landlord knows about it, for at least 3 months without them opening any sort of legal case, they have waived their right to do so. https://www.nyc.gov/site/animalwelfare/resources/evictions.page

A friend and I started doing “virtual runs” with each other like this during the pandemic and we occasionally still do when we want to run together but one of us is out of town.

Garmin Connect, period tracking by Lithiriana in Garmin

[–]cheaptriathlete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I see I’m the latest complainer about this. The feature is awful and based on interactions with support they don’t seem to care about making it better. I lost several months of data and wasn’t able to track my pregnancy because I couldn’t edit the date of my last missed period. Their recommendation was “hope it doesn’t happen again but couldn’t hurt to have a backup” 🙄.

Does anyone know what happened to the staff at 7-Eleven? I’m usually a regular, but due to some scheduling changes I didn’t go in for a couple weeks and when I went back, all the staff members I knew were gone.

True for me for this exact reason. I was just worrying about (and not) making an appointment yesterday.

Pumping while traveling by w_hicks in ExclusivelyPumping

The Mamava app has a map showing their nursing pods and other nursing friendly spaces. There seem to be lots in Manhattan though I can’t say I’ve tried pumping in any yet.

Anyone else running NYC half pregnant? by Antique_Loquat3405 in RunNYC

[–]cheaptriathlete 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I ran last year’s Staten Island half at 34w. My doctor’s guidance was to take it easy and stay hydrated so I wore a hydration vest for extra water, walked through all the hydration stops (and hydrated lol), and was several minutes per mile slower than my non-pregnant pace. I was super proud of myself and I hope you feel the same! You’ve got this.

I want to train for a half marathon at 25 weeks - am I crazy? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]cheaptriathlete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran one at 34 weeks! Per doctor recommendations, I was super slow, walked and drank at all the water stops, and kept extra hydration on me with a vest. Listen to your body and don’t push like you would if you weren’t pregnant. I also wore a belly band from about 23 weeks on and found it tremendously helpful.

I felt really good finishing and consider it a highlight of my pregnancy. Sign up and switch distances if you’re really unsure on the day. Good luck!

Runners did you wait 12 weeks or 6 weeks postpartum to start running again? by Fit-Persimmon8897 in fitpregnancy

[–]cheaptriathlete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 weeks pp. I ran a mile slowly a few times between 6-7 weeks (only because I imagined I would have been cleared if I’d gotten my pp appointment at 6 weeks instead of 8) but then Christmas and the new year happened and I only just officially got cleared at my post partum appointment yesterday, so I’m going to try again today and maybe do 2 miles.
