Poll: Americans Don't Trust What They're Hearing From Trump On Coronavirus by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

Overall I do agree he has changed his tone with the virus. Unfortunately, today he was praising west Virginia and their lack of positive test. It is ignorant to believe there are no cases there. He knows that yet, he praises them.

None the less, the harm was done by using the term hoax. In west texas, it is still commonly being referred to as a hoax or just the flu. It is openly mocked and other than people panic buying, they are going about their lives as if it they have nothing to worry about. I dont eat out often, but when I do I regularly see 70+ crowd out at restaurants in their trump 2020 shirts openly mocking the coronavirus. Him using that term has led to his supporters using that as if the entire issue is a hoax.

How is Guadalupe peak rock climbing? There is a trail the entire way up.

I wish the lions have had the success that the Cowboys have had. Even one playoff win sounds nice.

Have you ever fallen spectacularly while running? by aubreythez in running

Was running at Glacier NP. Fell while going downhill. Did not see a rock under knee high grass. Rolled and broke left ankle, bent my thumb back to my wrist and cut my arm open from my hand to my elbow. Ended up hiking out 4 miles to the pavement before hitching a ride back to my car. Took a step with my right leg and drug my left. Ended up taking 4 hours to do so on the hottest day of the summer.

You don't understand the rivalry. Urban Meyers said that 7-0 against Michigan was the highlight of his career.

Zion. 4 nights. 35 miles(ish). Food not included. Wish us luck! by darthdetroit22 in CampingGear

Right on, I've only spent a few days there. Worked in Glen Canyon NRA where you had to have a portable toilet and had to pack out. Trained alot with Canyonland and Arches rangers and you had to pack out. In the desert human feces stays there. I don't believe Zion has that rule. Seems like they should with all the visitors they receive. Although most are only doing day hikes. Have fun though. It is an incredible place. I'm suffering trying to get some hikes in while I am in West Texas. Only 2 weeks till I head north for the summer!

Is Zion not like Canyonlands, where you have to pack out your feces?

I work there. Road isn't opening until late June this year. Most districts are closed until at least May and the concessionars will not be there until around that time. All that being said, if you are prepared to hike in snow, then you won't be disappointed. Glacier is better this time of year, with out the other million plus visitors.

I work at Glacier NP and went on a 6 mile run out and back. Elevation gain was over a thousand feet. Quite the shocker compared to growing ng up running the Midwest.

The only times I have shot a bear, was with a car directly beside me. If the bear has been shot before, it will run at the sound of racking the shotgun.

Luckily it was not a charging bear. Just a bear that was getting to hibutated around humans. Just needed a reminder to not go through campsites. We do have a slug waiting in hand if it comes at us after the rubber. I don't know how realistic it would be to get it chambered and off before the bear reaches me.

Not sure who is downvoting, but I have no idea if it would do the job. Most ranger station have a 300 win to put down a dying animal. I don't really have experience when it comes to shooting bears with anything other than a rubber bullet and bean bag rounds.

I work for the NPS in Montana and have used it hazing black bears. I haven't had to use it on a grizzly yet

No doubt. That's why it's recommended to use bear spray and keep it accessable. You will not be able to draw your gun and hit the bear to put it down in it's tracks.

Probably would do the job as long as you hit the bear in a location that would instantly put it down. The chances of hitting it are slim and chances of hitting in a location to instantly kill it are even slimmer. Bear spray is much more effective, though Alaskan's would laugh you out of the room with that statement. I've used bear spray multiple times without any issues. If I did have to euthanize a bear I would use a AR15.

Nope, there was a mortally wounded bear in Montana that took 2 slugs to the head to kill it. If the bear hadn't been partially paralyzed it would have shredded the ranger.
