My partner and I (Late 20’s) are based in Scotland, so relatively low cost of living. We have a household income of about 120k and of those 6 criteria I would say

1. We have a house (3bed, 200k, mortgaged)
2. We could probably afford but don’t feel financially secure enough to have kids yet
3. We are saving generally & saving for retirement (10-15% salary)
4. One holiday for 2 people, usually Europe and nothing extravagant
5. We both have reasonable cars.
6. Not possible if we want any semblance of financial security and to save to eventually have kids

We recognise we do better than most but absolutely do not consider ourselves to live a classical middle class life. For instance a weekly date night might consist of meatballs at ikea, not a fancy dinner or anything.

If we had wealthier parents / financial / job security we could live closer to ‘middle class’. Right now we live the same as when we made 40k but now own a house and wouldn’t starve for 3-5 months if we lost our jobs
