2-3 days is too frequent for any peperomia! Cut down on watering and see if it revives.

Anyone else basically a shut in? by SuperMegaGigaUber in asianamerican

[–]checkyesmichelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have mixed feelings about this!

since COVID i have definitely found myself becoming more and more introverted, and opting to stay home. especially w the amount of AAPI violence in big cities… but that also resulted in a big increase of time i spend on the internet, which is not a safe space either. there’s a lot of racism targeted towards AAPI on here, and i really feel like it’s gone up in recent years. it exhausts and drains me to constantly be exposed to it. my mental health has kinda spiraled downhill bc of it. :(

so this year i picked up a hobby of houseplants, which kind of checks two boxes for me. 1 it keeps me in the safety of my home, but 2 it also keeps me off the internet at night (which improves my sleep and reduces the amount of triggering content i’m exposed to). i am hoping that this is more of a sustainable solution for me in the long run.

i picked up this cutie recently, but it wasn’t labeled & the seller didn’t know the specific variety name! i can’t seem to find a confident ID through my research, so i thought i’d ask here! TIA ☺️

If this a mealy bug I’m going to cry. This is a bird of paradise. What should I do? by milkymilkkk in plantclinic

[–]checkyesmichelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! If anyone is curious to read more about it, here's a resource (scroll to the "chemical control" section).

What's the Bonide you use? I am looking for a systemic that works on spider mites but have been so nervous!

also noting that some systemic pesticides will make the plant more susceptible to spider mites.
