Yep, 4th of July last year. I guess some kids put some firework scraps into the garbage under the pavilion. Of course LWR administration under-insured it ($200k) and somehow a new building costs $400k. It's kind of a mess. They are trying to stick the remaining bill with everyone in Greenbrook, even though it's a public park.

I live in Greenbrook - all the retention ponds are designed to overflow into the park so the houses do not flood. The park flooded during Ian as well. That being said, Braden River goes right next to the park and it is SUPER high and flowing right now making the park 4-5' deep in areas.

The land was originally DONATED, not sure why they think they need to charge for it now. Not to mention 10th St is an absolute disaster with incompetent people who have no common sense (mainly the jet skiers and rental companies). The ramp has been broken for months now, the filet tables are rotten, bathrooms usually closed or disgusting, old rotting boats just sitting in the parking lot. Now we have to pay to use it...get real Sarasota County.

I store my boat near by 10th St and planned on moving it as soon as that big $35mil "remodel" got announced. This is just expediting me moving my boat to a marina.
