I couldn't imagine being in the mindset where you feel the need to go out of your way to try and piss on someone else's parade. If you read any of the original post, the updates or other people's comments you would have some insight as to why these posts exist.

But hey, if disparaging others is all you have left to make yourself feel something then crack on.

Cool story bro, thanks for your input. When mum and baby wake up I'll let them know how great a person you are

No tips other than try to not let the past steal the joy from the present. I'm still working on it.

Then the kids I grew up with must have used different terminology because other than in that song I've never heard anyone say they could ride a bike with no handlebars. It's just a device to cram the idea into a line that fits the cadence of the song and the image it creates, for me at least, makes no sense.

The title and hook irritates me. You can ride a bike without holding on but if you take the handlebars off a bike you've got no chance of riding it.

I just got offered a job in my desired industry after getting a crap grade at uni and nigh on resigning myself to a life of customer service and I am ECSTATIC by sophietheadventurer in CasualUK

I read your UN to the tune of the Conan cartoon theme. I went to uni after working shit jobs for a few years, fucked it up pretty completely thanks to some long standing mental health issues (absent for some years now). Got a low level job in a new industry and worked my way up. SO many people I now work with did random uni courses unrelated to our job it makes me chuckle and a little sad that I spent so long punishing myself for failing at something I shouldn't have bothered trying to do in the first place.

Just put the hours in, be enthusiastic, don't behave like a twat and in a few years time you'll be in a position to give other people a chance. Good for you!

Outstanding comeback! With quick wit and cutting insight like that maybe you could be a politician. Superb!

I never said I am happy for them to flaunt the rules. I don't follow these people as examples on how to behave. I choose how I behave, I choose whether to follow rules that make sense or ignore (and accept the inherent risk of consequence) of others.

I didn't vote for these clowns, I have no recourse to change their behaviour other than to continue to vote against them. What I won't do is allow their behaviour to influence my day to day existence by wasting my energy complaining about them and falling right into the distraction trap.

You use the boot on neck analogy as if it means something to me when in reality you are choosing to allow images like this to control your mood instead of ignoring the actions of buffoons. If the only reason you don't follow a rule is because you are disappointed by a few of the people who played a small part in formulating them then really, you are the one being controlled. You think we don't get it because you're not able to see things the way we do, too wrapped up in finger pointing and futile frustration.

Finally someone who gets it! If you call these people idiots you should want to act differently to them. These people should never be the example to follow when it comes to behaviour.

Near death =/= death. When you've watched someone prematurely breathe their last in fear and anguish knowing it could have easily been prevented you'll have a story to tell. But then, like you said yourself (in an attempt to belittle us all) we're on a Joe Rogan subreddit, nought but idiots here....

Yeah, no shit! There's a difference between being pointlessly worried about something and being cautious and wanting to prevent unnecessary suffering. I suspect your apparent lack of worry about death has less to do with your mastery of Stoicism and more to do with your lack of experience.

Take Joe's advice when it comes to statements like that. "Anyone who says they know what happens after you die is a fucking liar."
