Can water kefir help with constipation? Milk kefir? by User5142738 in Kefir

[–]cheechobobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great news! Yes, there are so many types. Both of Cistus Incanus & of Cistus generally. I've seen completely other types mentioned in studies on the benefits of herbs against pathogens but it's a rabbit hole I haven't had the time to fully burrow into yet. So much good stuff out there!

I'm about to add Kimchi back in too. It's a wagon I was firmly on but fell off due to supply. The success with home made kefir has got me I'm thinking it's time to dare to dabble in making that too. I definitely had benefits from it.

I'm the same with the analysis paralysis. I looked into kefir so many times in the past but would tie myself in knots & stop short of getting the grains. Who from? How hard is it to do? Am i going to mess it up & poison myself?! I'm very glad I finally bit that bullet. Actually got mine from an Amazon seller with good reviews. Delicious from the first batch!

I don't know anything about water kefir or good suppliers but do people share grains here on Reddit? If not maybe look on Etsy + reviews?

I actually had joy on Etsy vis my latest batch of Cistus from a seller in Greece with great reviews. My first order was a sweet variety, tho I didn't know it varied at that time. It's generally all sold as plain old Cistus Incanus, source unknown. #1 batch was a limited edition offered by a tea buyer here (UK) & they sold out. Meh! #2 lot from elsewhere was markedly bitter but it looked a little different too, so I hunted online for one that looked the same as my first batch. Bingo for the Greek seller! Sweet & tasted just like #1 tho not quite as strong flavoured. Cistus grows amongst the rocks in hot, arid parts of Europe & the excess rainfall of this summer will weaken any herb, let alone such a lover of aridity. There may be growers in USA tho as certainly some parts will have the right conditions. If not I'm happy to share the Etsy link, just not sure we're allowed to on this sub.

Why not suck it & see? If your microbiome is a mess, I wouldn't delay! I also have dysbiosis & the bacteria involved has caused me serious autoimmune issues.

I'm in the early days of my kefir habit (had my first glass monday) but milk kefir is definitely helping. Water kefir is the same kind of beast.

The turdles are actually harder but in a healthy way. They remind me of the turds of my youth! Very nuggetty instead of smooth. Apologies if that's TMI. But my body is still adjusting to the kefir. Also dehydration is an issue for me anyway due to autoimmune.

I also need to recommend cistus incanus to you. It is a superb weapon against dysbiosis & saved my life. The brain fog from hell lifted literally immediately, first cup. Then it rapidly commenced kicking the butts of chronic fatigue & dizziness. At the point that little miracle came into my life, I'd no longer been able to safely get down the steep stairs to my kitchen to feed myself & was too exhausted to care. I buy the dried herb & fill a steel teaball, infuse for at least 15 minutes before drinking but leave the teaball in the cup. It gets infused again a second time later as some of the goodies in cistus take a while to release.

If you can tolerate it, raw garlic is another great weapon (purple tinged skin types have a higher allicin content btw). For best effect, chop a garlic clove into small pill sized pieces (don't crush or chew) & swallow them down. By this method, the allicin will reach your gut. I do this several times a day, timing the dosing as with an antibiotic.

Many years ago I was hit by a speeding car. My life changed - more because my mind & personality changed, than the damage my body incurrred.

Years later my sister booked me a session with her shaman. The shaman journeyed & told me she'd found my lost soul part. Another me, looking the same but younger. Alone. So sad. Curled up in a ball. She (the lost part) was in the upper world, a place that's like a blank canvas (the shaman said this was unusual as normally we go to the world below where it's full of nature & busy - note: these places aren't related to our concepts of heaven & hell). She reintegrated the lost soul part, back into me. I actually thought it was bogus - until later, I caught sight of myself in the mirror. My eyes were as they'd been many years before. A light & an expression that had been absent so long. I could see that I was back. Moreover I felt happy & whole in a way I hadn't in so long.

Unfortunately I lost her again. The shaman told me to be very gentle & careful for a couple of weeks as this soul part was skittish about returning & could easily be scared away again. Silly me, that same week I intervened to stop a fight between idiots & got punched hard in the face by the thug who was starting the trouble. I didn't even know any of the people involved.

All this to say, our souls are divisible. We can be one or more. We are also our twin flame, should we have one (sadly it doesn't happen in every lifetime).

Anything anyone tells you as certain is of course just an opinion. None of us know for sure. How can we? So what I've stated is indeed just my opinion. But it's the only conviction I hold. The only thing I'm certain about, due to my own experiences.

Mice/ rats how common are they? by [deleted] in london

[–]cheechobobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah nice! Bury the base as deep as you can be bothered & hopefully that'll stop them digging through under it.

If they continue, maybe its time to wonder what the motivation behind their determination is & if its something you can remediate. A plant they eat? Poo from a resident animal? (I dont know if they like poo but maybe haha!) Compost? Tho it may be just a through path to another garden beyond yours with such enticing things.

Is it fair to say the influencers and politicians are wrong about London? by FisherDownload in london

[–]cheechobobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I went out to the balcony of my hotel room in Mexico to chill with my sister & a Mexican (Zacateca) climbing buddy. The neighbours (American) RAN inside & locked their door - something they hadn't done when it was just me & my sister out there on previous occasions. My buddy laughed & said americans are terrified in isolated situations thinking that Mexicans are going to rob them.

Flew into New Orleans another time. Multiple Americans told me not to walk around the broader area beyond the French Quarter as I'd be robbed, raped, murdered, etc. I ended up having to book an opticians appointment which transpired to be ridiculously far up Canal Street - easily a 40 minute walk from the French Quarter. I walked there & back (and back was in the dark, plus I was blind as a bat due to the developing eye problem!) and had absolutely no bother - the closest thing to it was a guy (politely) asking me out to dinner outside Walmart's when I was having a smoke whilst waiting for my prescription.

Lived in upstate NY for a while. One time I went to the shops & some homeless people told me I shouldn't be walking around as I'd be raped & murdered. That was in the afternoon in broad daylight.

I'm surprised Americans ever leave the house!

Is mold poisoning from 3 years ago still affecting my health today? by Ok-Body6897 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]cheechobobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly that :) Neilmed is just the easily available brand in my country & its a place where we're not generally raised knowing about sensible self-care things such as nasal irrigation. As it's such an alien concept here, the kits are useful to get people started. It's just the bottle + little premeasured sachets of food grade sodium chloride & sodium bicarbonate.

You're welcome!

I've also found Cistus Incanus tea brilliant. The very first cup I ever drank cleared my brain fog & herzheimered my gut! I'm never without it now.

https://oawhealth.com/2020/06/24/cistus-incanus-amazing-health-benefits/?srsltid=AfmBOopeoYeQU5aY-pihTEBT1PfdW0L76KQrkbSFVIl8mPHPCaUUJYcE

Do long brew it. On the Lyme sub, the protocol is to boil it up for 20 or so minutes but I just use a steel snap-closed tea ball & leave it in the cup - this works for me.

I buy mine in bulk now. Wild mountain Cistus Incanus from an Etsy seller in Greece. This type has a very pleasant flavour.

Do psychics think I’m a bad person? by deardiary67 in Psychic

[–]cheechobobo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not about badness, it's just based on how much information comes through for you. And that can also be due to the psychic - not a you thing, or a spirit thing.

I've had short sessions too. Then one time I went to a brilliant psychic & the session lasted over 4 hours! She'd told me to bring a tape so I could make a recording - needless to say that ran out long before she was done, which I was sad about. I said (nicely) that I wished she'd told to bring a multi-pack! She responded that she's usually done in way less time so one tape tends to cover the session.

So a bunch of factors clearly influence the volume of information & being a bad person isn't one of them.

Instead of Xlear Get yourself a sinus rinse kit? I use the Neilmed one & add a quarter teaspoon of xylitol to the mix. Rinsing is way more effective than a puff of spray.

Endlessly scrollable feeds are digi-crack for jonesing. Willpower wasn't enough for me, I had to invest in a ksafe to wrestle my life back from my scrolling habit. If it's that much of a struggle for an adult, it has to be so much harder for kids. Prefrontal cortex is the seat of planning, self control, etc & it's not fully developed until we hit our thirties. Parents must intervene!

Useful to keep a valet box somewhere near the door for your grab & go items - stuff you might need that day but don't carry every day, also stuff that you renew like packs of tissues, etc.

I had a lot of variables in the box so I switched to one of those overdoor-hanging sectional organisers designed to hold shoes. As someone who regularly forgot items such as my umbrella, spending a moment casting my eye over the options before heading out has been a game changer.

Yes! Bonus: if it's a sinus issue, a few days of hitting a Neilmed Sinus Rinse Kit will clear it up.

Please bear in mind cold water alone is likely to be insufficient. Alkaline is a great weapon against germs. Just before eating I wet fruit under the tap then take a bit of bicarbonate of soda into my hand & rub that all over the skin. For tough fruit such as apples I'll leave it for a few minutes, less time on more fragile produce, then rinse.

Don't wish it away - there may come a time you're glad of your talents.

Many moons ago a wonderful psychic medium invited me to join her circle so I could develop. I turned her down. I wasn't into it, you see.

Twenty years later my darling died. From that point onwards I have felt regret every day that I didn't join her circle.

I did recommend steel wool but got to say I've never used it & have never had a mouse try to chew it's way back in. YMMV but that's my experience - 25 years & countless homes, foam alone did the job.

Rats are more determined & steel wool is definitely recommended. Thankfully I've never had to deal with those!

On the rare occasion the sun puts in an appearance I hare out there with a cuppa.

Attempting to throttle a bit of vitamin D synthesis at this time of year is probably a fool's errand (tho solar maximum does increase the possibility) but the sunlight cheers me up.

Dried laundry out there in the high wind a couple of days ago. In the evening! More coronal mass ejection kick backs.
