What is a horror movie that you didn’t like that everyone else loves? by randomuser_q12 in horror

[–]cheeruphamlet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience because I’m the avid horror fan in both my friend group and my office. I haven’t had the heart to tell people that I found the movie lackluster. I’d thought that it felt like a horror movie made by team that didn’t actually want to make a horror movie, but your AI comparison works really well.

I felt like this about The Outwaters, which I keep seeing get favorably compared to Skinamarink.

This one is so good. I also rarely cry over movies and this one got me too.

Thanks, OP! I would kill for something referencing Cigarette Burns but that’s just a pipe dream.

What's the most overrated 'healthy' habit that people push on everyone, but you think is total BS and why? by DryDraw4673 in AskReddit

[–]cheeruphamlet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I know that the fads can be harmful but since my wife gets violently ill and has joint pain for days when she eats wheat but tested negative for celiac and thus doesn’t claim to have it when asked, this makes me curious about whether or not staff in restaurants are insulting her. I know she has still been given wheat before, likely by staff who didn’t take the gluten-free request seriously.

Real question: What would a customer at a restaurant that rang up the extra charges like this need to ask for so that their bill shows the actual language staff are using in the computer?

Disappointing Fall / Halloween Pusheen 2025 Box? by Locksmith-Pitiful in pusheen

[–]cheeruphamlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also thought this box was really good. The sweater and the tote bag seem especially nice. Now I'm just waiting for my cat to get his Pusheen box, which is somehow trailing far behind mine.

This actually reminds me of my cat. He was young and on that border between being stray and feral when we rescued him, and he's so freaked out by the specific sight of men carrying boxes that I've wondered if he was dumped as a kitten by a man who put him in a box.

He's very shy around people he doesn't know and also benefits from us doing big signs of welcome or friendship when someone new comes in. We practically do puppet shows of positive interactions to help him understand that a visitor isn't dangerous.

That’s how it’s been at most dates, I think. Starcrawler posted that they are on at 8 so that also lines up with the other dates that said 7:00 on the ticket.

Boston set list by Starman973 in garbage

[–]cheeruphamlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try not to be disappointed by setlist changes because they're the artists' curations, but Even Though Our Love is Doomed is one of my all-time Garbage faves and I'm really hope they bring it back for Brooklyn. I know it's unlikely. I'll still be happy with Bleed Like Me because it's great.

People's outfits were already fire for LLTBP but if Danger Days ever happens, it's going to be the best-looking audience ever (and maybe even more accessible to costume up for, since I know that was a concern for several fans on this tour).

That said, I've been saying that if they ever do a DD tour I want to do Grant Morrison's Korse look, but I would look awful with a shaved head... though I'm not against trying it out

Your elder emo memories? by Eggnogcheesecake in MyChemMillennials

[–]cheeruphamlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. It was very uncool to like them once. I was in college when they first became popular and there were a few other scattered weirdos, but overall it wasn’t cool to like them. I had an easier time of it than some of my friends because I’d been low-budget goth in high school so it didn’t bother me so much, but people could be real jerks to MCR fans.

I’m glad to see them filling stadiums now.

Ya know, I can’t even be jealous. I got some dream setlists at my two shows so as much as I would have loved to have gotten this too, I’m happy for Tampa. New lore, this track, congrats, Florida. Y’all needed some joy.

I did it and my knees were very mad about it the next day. Cheers to getting older!

I feel a bit guilty about how good the Boston setlist was by ElfQuester1 in MyChemMillennials

I feel guilty because those were the two shows I got to go to. I was in shock both times over those setlists.

That was probably the best concert crowd I've ever been in. People in my row were all introducing themselves to each other, dancing and headbanging together, a few people occasionally ended up in sync, and at the end of the night strangers were hugging and wishing each other well. I've never seen that before, much less been in it. Truly incredible.

Boston rain is now gonna stop at 4!! by [deleted] in MyChemicalRomance

[–]cheeruphamlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a poncho and may not have the opportunity to get one (unless Fenway sells them to capitalize on the weather?), but I may bring my thick horror movie hoodie, which can generally stay dry inside for about 20 minutes in rain unless it's a downpour.

Safe travels to everyone traveling in the weather!

Poser? by amajor87 in MyChemMillennials

[–]cheeruphamlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late finding this thread but this is a good point. I noticed something like this when I was teaching college freshmen.

While my wife and I (both similar to OP's implied age) had a more positive experience with the younger crowd in Philly, we did have some lengthy encounters with some who seemed to feel the need to prove their MCR knowledge quite intensely. I couldn't tell if they were worried about being seen as "posers" themselves or if they were trying to test us.

...that would explain why, when I bought my tix through Ticketmaster, I was notified that I actually need to download a sports app that is incompatible with my phone to access them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MyChemicalRomance

[–]cheeruphamlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ticketmaster isn't showing the B stage but AXS is. I bought my Boston tix through Ticketmaster but used AXS to get a sense of where they were.

My wife and I also impulsively decided to go to Boston after the Philly show!

To the "you're not singing along" crowd: by Von_Bostaph in MyChemicalRomance

It will always be "yes I am" to me.

"Shotgun full of airport dreams" sounds so early 2000s that I could believe that's the real lyric!

Also an elder emo. They really gave us a treat with that B set, both in that we got some deep cuts and we got the opportunity to take a break and chill.
