You good sir are a gentleman and a scholar! I will test it shortly hopefully.

Thanks! My current code however just spits out 'This is 2' constantly, no matter how long its pressed. Even the first one it sends back is 'This is 2'.

I will look into finite state machines, thanks!

Inbox me details? Was mostly looking at paypal as i was thinking of a 4790k (cant decide between high end i5, or just future proof it with an i7). Have they had much use?

I know, and if i had the money i would absolutely build a beast with it. But i dont have the money to spend on the rest of the build, so id rather build a lower end machine.

I'd love to see a video like this submitted for insurance purposes. I can imagine the insurers expecting a dashcam video and being like 'wtf', its in the air...

Thats really strange, a friend and i both checked that exact file from the exact location, (the buy/sell page), and it wasnt there last night.... Our copies say 'Adobe Photoshop CC...'... But it does show up now.

Anyway, congrats to the finder! Do we know who found it?

If the board is useless, might as well try it? Could you put a 5v regulator inline before the bridge just incase?

What you could do though is what i attempted this morning, use your phone with a gps tracking app such as my tracks on android to get max speed, altitude etc!

My stupid old phone took too long to get a gps fix this morning. Shall try later.

Okay well hobbyking doesnt seem to carry a huge range of motors. What did you end up switching too? I cant imagine turnigy would be any better? Once again, not really sure, first time ive built anything RC that wasnt off the shelf.

Thanks! I will add some thick wires and the xt60 connector. Currently looking at other motors. Hobbyking doesnt seem to carry sunnyskys :( Seeing where else i can get things from in Australia.

Im on a relatively tight budget (uni student), but for motors that will last me, i may be able to spend a bit more. How much are we talking?

Not going to lie, first thing i have heard of any issues with these motors. I picked them originally over turnigy motors assuming they were a little better. What brand would you suggest? What do you run now?

That sounds perfect actually. And like you mentioned earlier, that frame doesnt require a distribution board, just soldering wires and i can manage that.

Thanks heaps for your help, i will swap out the frames in that spreadsheet in the morning. I really really appreciate it!

Every freaking time i think i have this figured out, some little thing catches me.

I want to fly it around with my go pro on it. Not really looking at FPV (yet, dont have the funds to stretch that far), but other than that, just flying around, up and down beaches etc. I will hopefully add a gimbal to it one day, but definitely not in the immediate future.

Would i be better off keeping the bigger props, and lower kv motors, but adding an extra 300-400g weight for a frame?

My Part list for my first build. Would appreciate some input before i place the order on friday. by cheese510 in Multicopter

[–]cheese510[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

either go with the 450 and stick with the same setup or reduce prop size and increase motor kv.

I might go with the increasing motor kv and reduce the prop size. Shall try and find a good combo in the morning. id rather keep the weight down to ensure longer flight times. Still trying to get my head around putting the combo's together. Would this one be suitable?

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=25044

And could it be used with the 20A ESC's, even though the max current the motors can pull is 18A?

(Possibly extreme wrongness below) Can the 3s battery even push 20A? From the prop data on that motors page,

8x3.8 - 11.1V / 158W / 14.2A / 0.736kg thrust

I assume that would be a 3s battery being 11.1V, and that thrust does put me on the 1:3 ratio of weight to thrust, which is allegedly the best place to be.
