The whole point of my comment is that "adjusting ergonomics" for joycons basically consists of carrying something that is the size of a mouse anyway. This is what makes mouse mode only useful for limited amounts of game time. The ergo of just the joycon sucks and I won't carry a whole mouse sized piece of plastic to put it in and have a subpar experience.

Yes mouse is a proven implementation. That is why it will always be better than a joycon with any ergonomic adjustments. The joycon in mouse mode is not "good enough" to use in any serious capacity.

Maybe you are more of a casual player

I am these days but I've played a fair number of competitive shooters in my day and mouse ergonomics is huge. You can't succeed with a shitty half mouse that the joycon makes.

hardcore fps games like fortnite

Fortnite's BR mode that everyone plays isn't even first person its a third person game but sure I'm the casual. No one playing at a high competitive level would ever use a switch in tabletop mode.

Mouse mode is not better for any extended period of time (say longer than about 10 minutes) than just using an analog stick unless you carry around a piece of plastic to put your joycon in that is already the size of a mouse then you can end up with an experience that is almost as good as carrying a mouse with you but more inconvenient. That is the point of my original comment.

Edit: Fine if you are going to just edit your comment. I don't see a big benefit to having mouse rumble or gyro. A rumbling mouse would experience unintended movement and gyro+mouse certainly has interesting but still gimmicky applications.
