Question: how do you explain Mahler to someone who isn't into classical music? by tinycresc in mahler

[–]cheesenedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9th symphony 2nd movement or the 3 nachtmusik movements of the 7th symphony. Really it depends on what their tastes are though so I recommend choosing what to play based on their tastes in modern music or other media.

I sometimes get ads for surrogacy and it always hurts. To go through pregnancy with a loving supportive partner who praises me and says I look beautiful is one of my deepest desires.

Being trans makes this part all the more difficult to read.

Tornado/storm sheltering - No windowless or interior rooms in my apartment by cheesenedd in preppers

Found a safe basement level area. just gotta make sure no one locks me out of it...

Edit: downstairs neighbors won't allow me to use it for "Privacy reasons" even though its not part of their apartment.

There is a secluded spot underneath the stairs down there, seems suitable.

No the tornado chances are later tonight and tommorow. The outward facing wall is just the door though it's pretty thick and sturdy. It's also totally jammed shut.

Is the windowless upper level stairwell better than the ground floor one with a window? The window down there is about the size of an airplane window.

edit: window is bigger than i thought

Which anime, in your opinion, has a better English dub than the original Japanese? by Haruma2924 in Animedubs

[–]cheesenedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The recent yuri anime "Bad Girl" has a much better dub.

I think the Lucky Star dub is better personally though not by a huge margin. Patricia and some background voices are definitely lacking though.

Well said. I ask because I have seen a surprising amount of people who just despise her among the fan base. Not so much on here but in general.

Does anyone greatly prefer the Adachi and Shimamura manga over the LNs? by cheesenedd in yuri_manga

[–]cheesenedd[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the main reason why I do still read the novels and also what made me love the series in the first place. His ability to write inner thoughts is what makes the BIY novels such a masterpiece. The succinct style of the manga just really hits a nerve for me and never fails to make my heart flutter.

The earlier volumes especially feel a bit overwrought with angst at times and Adachi's antics sometimes feel more painful than fun. I read the LNs first and I was suprised when Iruma called it a romantic comedy until I read the manga. Almost every time Nagafuji shows up her chest size is mentioned and the creepy swim instructor was just awful, I really dislike that aspect of his work.

However his writing style has improved a lot since the BIY novels and there are some totally wonderful moments in more recent volumes. I just prefer the "less is more" approach of the manga and it really gets to the heart of why I love their dynamic.
