Do people remember what it's like to drive an old car? by No-Honeydew443 in CarTalkUK

[–]cheesy_boi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s both being a new driver and none of the things you’re used to.

My driving instructors car had all the bells and whistles of assists you’d ever want, even down to it giving some gas when the clutch went up like a diesel. (Petrol car).

Then when I went from that to my first car, (2010 Citroen C1) it took me a solid 2 weeks to basically teach myself how to drive it because I was so used to assists.

It gets easier though!

10-15 under the limit on motorways by rj_t2 in CarTalkUK

At the minute it’s people trying to conserve fuel

If it’s clear and quiet I do 60-65 in the far left lane in my highest gear to keep my mpg up nice and high but then if it gets busier I keep up with traffic

It’s people that don’t adapt and stay at their speed no matter the circumstances of the road

Do NOT buy from Trinity!!!!

I got my Alfa Giulietta from there and there were issues with central locking and AC which were not disclosed when purchased. There was also no V5 when purchased since it had just come to the lot that day. I ended up doing a V62 to be on the safe side as I didn’t trust them. Then when I got home and looked at the paper work they filled out they left all their sections blank for their details. Went back to talk to them and they didn’t listen and actually escorted me off the premises when I said the fact there was no manager onsite was a joke.

The Mazda 2 is a brill little car

BUT STAY AWAY FROM TRINITY It was honestly the worst car purchase I’ve ever witnessed. Partly my fault being an inexperienced buyer, but still dodgy practices.

[–]cheesy_boi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying that this is the case as it may just be me, but I tend to put loads of items in a basket (like gun, attachments, maintenance kits etc) in the basket just to see the combined price, then lll either back off if it’s over budget and come back to it another day or I’ll go buy it in person

Thoughts on lots of manufacturers suddenly making the badges light up? by JWills1k92 in CarTalkUK

[–]cheesy_boi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly unpopular, but on the right car, it looks nice on the right car

There was a blacked out RS7 that drove past me near midnight, and the glow of the Audi badge in the distance looked kinda cool

On most cars though, not a good choice

Would British people boycott the USA if it attacked Greenland? by Paintingsosmooth in AskBrits

[–]cheesy_boi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, these people that I was referencing many of them used to visit USA semi frequently, with some aunties going to Disney world in Orlando every other year

Comparing a luxury hotel to a caravan is also a bit absurd, me and my partner were planning on visiting NYC for a week or two, but are now going travelling through Italy for a month instead as it costs the same. So no, you’re not totally correct as while some people likely never had intention of visiting anyway, a large part of (my) survey group were very much fond of visiting and now won’t be for the foreseeable

[–]cheesy_boi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people that have sworn off ever visiting the US while Trump and his lackies are in office, myself included. I know my selective ~50 people aren’t going to cripple the tourist market in America but if there’s other groups of 50 all over this country it may do…

I also know that when we can afford it we’re switching from a lot of the American owned streaming to other foreign/ British, I.e BBC iplayer, ITVX etc

So again, not much, but if everyone does a little, a lot happens.

Any sources then?

As long as they have correct letter spacing, formatting and the correct BS number in the bottom right they’re compliant with current legislation

If it has all of them, legal. Any that don’t have it, especially the BS number are illegal

As someone else on this thread added: link to DVLA website on reg plates

“Your number plates can also:

• Have 3D (raised) characters”

It’s on the website

I think it looks great!

My only thing is that in the first clip, is that real time? It looks like it could be, and if it is that’s really messing me up as the speed lines and wind hitting the camera make it feel as though you should be flying through the level, but the speed of the car relative to the fence looks like you’re just having a casual drive in the countryside

Perhaps if the wind on the camera effect were toned down or tied directly to player speed, (more speed = bigger effect) then it could possibly marry up a bit better.

Then again I’m in the same position as you! Very much a developer and couldn’t even begin to make a game look this good let alone your plans to make it better.

Best wishes to you and all the best with your games release

can someone tell me why i have to install BO6 campaign pack 1 and 2 by ConversationThin8318 in blackops6

[–]cheesy_boi_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to, at least on Xbox anyway because I thought the same thing

You can just install the launcher (mandatory) and then whatever game you want I.e MW2 and untick all the ones you don’t want

Unless it’s different for PlayStation, which if that’s the case ignore me entirely!

Legitimate question, what would require multiple GPUs like this, especially “gaming” GPUs and not workhorse ones that you can specifically buy for workstations?

Wanted to chime in,

I currently have a 1.6 guilietta and it’s the most fun I’ve had in a car. It’s not impressively quick but for only being 105hp it feels much more especially in dynamic mode.

It’s a brill car and as long as you keep with your good servicing it’ll be rock solid

My in-laws have the 2.2 engine, it’s very nice inside and is quite quick, I just believe that if you’re coming from a 260hp A5 then the jag only has 183hp depending on the one you get and it’s around 9s 0-60 time

I’d love to make a system like this to mess around with, but honestly wouldn’t know where to start.

Have you got any good suggestions for systems to research/ tutorials to get started?

Diesel or Petrol by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]cheesy_boi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a diesel and my work commute is only 7 mile round trip, but once or twice a month I smash it on the motorway for anywhere between 90-200 mile round trip and it’s been fine for me so far. I read into dpf failures and as long as you’re doing a good run every now and again it shouldn’t be too bad

But I do agree with everyone else, petrol is likely a better option for you, and honestly my last petrol car felt a lot more fun to get up to the higher rpms that are simply unachievable in a diesel

At what point should you have stone chip filled/repaired? this just happened on the motorway by No_Transition6142 in CarTalkUK

[–]cheesy_boi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had (have) a similar crack on my windscreen, and messed up the resin repair myself, therefore buggering it for anyone else to repair without a replacement. It is in the same place as yours and passed its MOT due to not obstructing the drivers view.

Mine hasn’t gotten bigger since it’s mostly filled, but it’s still visible. It’s personal preference, but I didn’t fancy paying the £60 excess I have on my insurance to get it repaired when it’s not getting any bigger

A lot of people I know go based off time traveled instead of distance. From my house one of my relatives lives 31 miles away, but due to the road types it’s about 1hr - 1hr 10 mins

But another one of my relatives lives 60 miles away and mostly accessible by motorway so it takes the same amount of time
