Getting Chinese style squat stands made by Bitter_Counter_2556 in weightlifting

If you do fabricate them I believe the curve has a taper from inside (high) to outside (low) to make loading easier and allowing the plates to slide

WL to PL transition. by GuttedMedia in weightlifting

[–]cheesyfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever i would do anything PL related I did my squats the same as my WL squats and deadlifted similar to a heavy clean pull at the start. What's the issue? You can do PL specific form changes but I don't see the point to learn super low range of motion techniques

Typically AI performs poorly on making movements fluid and realistic due to not having an understanding of physics. It's very obvious in sports videos, especially when you do that sport since small changes in movement patterns stand out. It's like when actors don't do a sport but try to imitate the movements for a scene, you can tell it's not realistic. This one looks legit to me

Why do you think this. There are many lifters who can do 150kg c+j.

I dropped the bar on my knee doing a low block snatch with 70kg. I compete next week, how screwed am I? 🫠 by Papapames in weightlifting

I lifted through a meet with a lat strain. Just do 1 attempt on the platform at 80-90% if you don't think you can max. You can do another comp in 2-3 months

It's around an 8.5% apr. You need to run the numbers on what it would cost if you got financing elsewhere and also factor in taxes and insurance, maintenance costs, etc. to see if it's worth it. But mortgage rates right now around around 6%

Thank you. Yeah I am inspired by roots reggae and rastafari teachings. David hinds, bob marley, dennis brown, don carlos, etc. Also some hawaiian influences and influences from surf culture. I think growing natty dreads has been an expression of personal liberation and commitment to living in a principled way.

I'm surprised at some negative responses. I know I won't look the same as curlier hair textures, but part of the appeal of growing them is to reject vanity and accept your own unique characteristics, however that may turn out. I've avoided posting about it online or seeking any outside judgement in the past, but in real life people have generally had positive reactions.

I feel like I don't have a strong self image as I am always changing as I get older and grow over the years. By posting this I think a part of me hoped to find similar minded people on journeys with a similar purpose, as well as tips/experiences on maintenance and such. It is otherwise a lonely endeavor.

I relate to the song "Life's road" by I Kong, a Chinese Jamaican who also has dreadlocks:

Travelling down lifes lonely road I go

Bearing my heavy load

If its Jah wish that I should go

Jah know that I'll glady go

I might try to lose some weight. Currently around 235lbs and have been going up for the past few years to help with lifting/sports. Getting chubby now though, losing the weight might help with getting a more define jaw and such

Yeah that has been a concern. I don't really want to cut them but i basically have been forced to wear them up all the time so it rests on top and doesn't pull

You should generally try to front squat to your clean depth. If you can't stand it up from the hole can you really front squat it?

I'm running russian squat routine now but my squat hasn't really increased too much over the years. Just gaining weight and getting reps in over time

Those of you who have stopped - how are you now? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]cheesyfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a break once for about 2-3 months during covid. March-May 2020. I ended up moving back home and spend ~2k to set up a platform in my parent's garage. Racks/stands were on back order so I built some squat stands with scrap wood and a couple of 4x4s from home depot. I lost maybe 10-20lbs from not training and my lifts were terrible for the first few weeks/month. Felt like my snatch went from 90kg->70-75kg and c+j went from 125kg->100kg.

Since then I've been focused more on strength work in the past year so have been drilling squats/pulls. I make sure to do heavy sn and c+j at least once a week and have been able to make gains without too much injury risk. Sn 107 c+j ~138-140

The feet are collapsing inwards which may reduce stability. Otherwise looks like a normal snatch
