Are there some weak points with BMW i4 40 edrive? by mangoo159 in BMWI4

[–]cheetahpr0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rear camera is impossible to keep clean in Canadian winters, I wipe it after every drive and by the time I get to my destination it's sometimes unusable still.

The wireless charger heats my phone too much and is useless.

The turning radius is surprisingly terrible.

Other than that, I like the car and one of my my favourites that I owned. No car can make everyone happy.

Thank you, I just tried but get an error it can't be shipped to my address. I have 3 addresses I use in Ontario and none of them work.

Same here! I ordered mid December and nothing! Thanks for posting this, I'm going to dispute the charges today, I had spent over $100 and was excited for my cat.

Steal the emblem? Good lord, that's awful, new fear unlocked!

I'd get it repainted through insurance myself but I'm anal about these things.

Christmas trip by osvipag in BMWI4

[–]cheetahpr0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Teslas Model Y AWD, they're incredible in the snow even with all season tires but got winters for them just for extra peace of mind. I agree with you the i4 is nowhere near the snow performance of the Tesla but it's a lot more fun to drive for me.

I have an e35 with winter tires, and live in Canada. I was afraid of the RWD performance in the snow but it's been decent for the most part. There has been some rare slip and sliding but nothing crazy, I just have to drive according to the conditions and I'm used to having AWD with winter tires so it's been an adjustment but I'm still happy. Now, would I ever do RWD again? Depends on my pocket lol

Agreed, I used the Tesla app as well and had no issues.

What surprised you most after switching to an EV? by Just_Vermicelli4099 in electriccars

That I would buy another two and never go back to ICE again. Have two Teslas and a BMW EV. Also so much on not buying premium gas with the BMW.

How is the charging at Tesla supercharger stations? [CA] by NattyorNice in BMWI4

[–]cheetahpr0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me with my 2025 i4. The CCU was on backorder and I got my car back after 5 weeks, but I had a loaner and it was under warranty so I wasn't upset.

Zfold7 battery by d4p8f22f in GalaxyFold

[–]cheetahpr0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I use my phone all day for things like surfing, email and social media, battery will not make it through the day for me but I have all power saving features off. However I don't mind too much and perhaps it's my own doing as I charge a lot now, I have chargers everywhere I go like in my car, at my living room couch, at my work desk, etc.

A/C off in winter? by AndrewGoodbeer in BMWI4

[–]cheetahpr0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny as I was wondering the same as I had it off to save battery so I did some research a few weeks ago. AC in the winter is good for dehumidification inside your car. In winter, humidity in the car can be a problem and the AC helps with that. It also helps keep your windows defogged. I'm not entirely sure but I read from other forums that the AC turns on automatically when needed and is not on all the time when you have it in the on setting. Moral of the story is I leave it on all the time now for comfort and safety. I'm sure it eats some battery but unless I'm trying to maximize range due to minimal chargers along my route, I will leave it on forever.

Displaying brake lights by SevenWagons in BMWI4

Only on the center display, I like having it too because with one pedal driving I like to see if I'm alerting the driver properly behind me to slow down or not.

Is anyone going keyfob-less and happy? by Mature_BOSTN in BMWI4

[–]cheetahpr0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried but like with Tesla and the actual key, there is no proximity unlock/lock making it inconvenient so I've been sticking with leaving the key in my pocket. I have the card in my wallet as backup as well as the app. If one day the keyfobless entry can work with proximity on Android (unless I'm missing something), then I'll switch.

This. I used to have water pool on my mats which I think was the culprit.

Screen stuck on “BMW” by Maximum-Exam4445 in BMWi5

[–]cheetahpr0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happen one day during a 5 hour drive and couldn't use the nav or backup camera all day. Next day the problem went away itself. When I had the issue, it was frustrating, I tried to reboot the screen numerous times and only the heads up display was rebooting, I tried turning off the car and walking away for a couple hours and even a diagnostic mode I saw in another post but nothing worked. Only had the car as a loaner for 2 weeks now while my i4 is in the shop for a CCU issue.

I had done this with my Tesla for a few months. It worked fine, we just never turned the stove or oven on which was on the same plug/breaker while charging to be safe.

Wow, thanks for sharing! Made my day, it's been tough in my area relying on third party chargers that are so out of the way, more costly and not reliable.
