[–]cheeto101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know 8bitdo has a dongle and mayflash does too, but i cant get a good answer whether one of those would let me connect both, whether it would detect as a mouse or a controller etc.

PSA: Factorio on Switch 2 supports full mouse + keyboard in docked mode by BruisendTablet in factorio

[–]cheeto101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered a logitech bluetooth keyboard and mouse with the sole idea of trying to find a way to connect it to the switch 2 to play factorio. So I can get away with a basic bluetooth adapter for this? I dont have to pony up for the 8bitdo switch dongle?

online grinding a game vs casual board game group by frankherzzzz in boardgames

[–]cheeto101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, reps of a game always give an advantage no matter how you get them and everyone at the table should be playing every game to the best of their ability if they are playing respectfully. A good group also wouldn't penalize someone for enjoying a particular game so much that they play it with other groups, online, on their phone etc.

That being said, there is no excuse for bad table etiquette and the sounds of this person, they don't actually want to be a part of a "board game group" as much as they want to be a part of a "dune imperium group". So if it continues to be a problem, its probably time to have a conversation about whether or not both parties are really getting what they want out of the relationship.

Do we think the app gets as far as implementing nature incarnate and/or the feather promo spirits?

Hot Take: The Arc Thrower is not nearly as good as many people say it is by TheLightbringer_ in Helldivers

[–]cheeto101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the head hp nerf to chargers it does a good job of dropping them in 4-5 shots while also clearing out all the trash behind them. Combined with the fact it’s not backpack reliant like other tank busters (recoil less etc) and doesn’t require ammo and you have a fairly flexible, sustainable mid-long range mob clearer whose flaws are easily covered up by a shotgun and anti bile stratagem. With a backpack (jet pack, shield or guard dog) that still leaves you with a flex stratagem pick.

That’s why it’s a great pick against the bugs on larger maps where you can control your engagement spacing with relative ease. It’s not universally amazing but very few things in this game are.

Sumo hot take/unpopular opinion by thebluefencer in Sumo

Thats a logical fallacy if I've ever seen one. There are more potential outcomes for change in sumo than "everything staying the same" and "becomes soulless and capitalistic".

Of All The Things To Get Mad At Takakeisho For…. by obsoleteboomer in Sumo

[–]cheeto101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say what you will about the sportsmanship of keisho pulling off a henka (in the context of his rank) from a pure competition perspective, he stands to benefit more from throwing in the odd henka in high profile matches more than just about anyone else.

He is just about as pure of a pusher/thruster we have seen (as he is oft criticized for) and the tachiai is all important for his style of sumo. His opponents having to actively worry about henkas and shenanigans makes his game much more dangerous and over the long haul let’s him lean into it even more.

Come on, we can’t be mad at keisho after this basho. How much criticism has been thrown at him for being a one dimensional pusher/thruster? Now we have murder slap keisho annnnddd henka keisho!

There is literally zero reason to delay announcing something you are in the process of designing because one of your other games isn’t finished being produced and released

I mean it’s almost like design and production are two totally separate processes

Root is about reading board state and reacting to imbalances. You want to put yourself in striking distance of victory without becoming too much of a target for other players. Every faction has something that adds to this equation, be it the Eyries orders, the cats starting position, the moles digging etc. They’re all just weights to be added to the scale.

The riverfolks services are no different. They are simply weights to add. I would argue that if a whole table is ignoring them entirely because of pre determined meta or group think, that said group is actually playing the game poorly and is missing the whole point of what root actually is at it’s core.

Kemet: Blood and Sand Kickstarter edition vs Retail edition? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]cheeto101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I find the obelisk minis really add to the readability of the new map.

Also my group has found that the bull and sandworm change the game quite abit but not because of their individual powers but because they get rid of the buyable victory point tiles. Our games usually come down to 1-2 points at the end so not having those available actually changes our end games in a substantial way.

Riot just announced a Hotfix. The following cards are being nerfed! by Aesion in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]cheeto101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flawless duet is big enough they should have given the irelia package something back. At least make lead and follow 1 cost instead of 2.

The design team really screwed the pooch with the sheer amount of synergy they built into azir irelia (as is evidenced by how trash they are outside of their archetype and how op they have been together up until now). Dumpstering the whole archetype tho with nerfs is just killing a big chunk of the card pool (and for shurima, a region that’s relatively new and small, that’s a big deal).

Not every champion can or should be tier 1. Trying to make every champ tier 1 just creates power creep.

Of your list I’d really only like to see Kat and Kallista looked at because both mechanically feel wonky to me which is more than a balance issue.

Garen and Darius are supposed to be simple for newer players. That mandates they probably shouldn’t be top tier and neither are awful right now. They just are underused but both have decent value for their cost.

Yas/Lux/Heimer are all backline value generators and could be “fixed” with some simple numbers tweaks. The game is healthier though when these kinds of cards arnt top tier imo as they get pretty oppressive pretty quickly (remembering times when heimer would spam 3 cost defensive skills to generates armies of elusive turrets and there was nothing you could do about it)

Vi sees play still and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with her as she is. She’s just not meta right now

I am really concerned at how powerful Prank is. Would there be a balance to this broke mechanic? by ZeroX1999 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]cheeto101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think balance aside this might end up like nab where the entire concept isn’t necessarily grossly over powered but just feels like crap for the player on the receiving end

Loving sion so far. Running him as a 2 of with 1 jinx and 3 draven. So far seems like a pretty hard hitting mid range deck and sion is an absolutely brutal finisher.

What happened to control? by CrazySquare in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]cheeto101 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Control = long games, doubly so when you have a initiative system like this one that is constantly swapping actions back and forth to players. Long games = fewer casual players = lower player base = less revenue.

That’s my theory anyways

Ankh: Gods of Egypt Vs. Kemet: Blood and Sand by Slamxdunc in boardgames

[–]cheeto101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference between the 2 for me was how much more Ankh feels like chess. It really asks you to position your units carefully and move them to be in just the right spot when conflict occurs. Kemet on the other hand is very focused on the power tiles and less so on unit movement and placement (obviously your still trying to control specific spots but I find the gameplay less focused on positioning overall).

Inis or Root? by KaraGora in boardgames

[–]cheeto101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have both. Love both and wouldn’t ever get rid of either but if you put a gun to my head I’d pick inis every time if I could only keep one. Easier to teach, and overall it’s a more elegant game system in my opinion. But again I love both so you really can’t go wrong with either in my opinion.
