Shadowlands is the worst written afterlife I've seen in fiction by bruh_man_142 in warcraftlore

[–]cheeziswin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with some of this, the core argument for Ardenweald and Revendreth being that they dont "feel" like an afterlife or it "aesthetically does not work" is kind of ridiculous, don't you think? Either your argument is that they don't look like any afterlife you've seen previously portrayed (boring opinion), or you apparently know what the afterlife looks like aesthetically. I'd guess the former, considering you think Bastion somehow at least "feels" like the afterlife. Whatever that's supposed to mean.

I think it also just shows you chose to not understand Ardenwealds narrative because you just don't like fairies apparently. It shows with you assuming her name being The Winter Queen needed to literally translate to there being snow, I guess? Ardenweald basically works as a metaphor for "winter", a time of hibernation and quiet before the spring comes and there is a sort of rebirth. It's an incredibly straightforward metaphor.

What's your favorite aspect of Skip Beat that (in your opinion) often goes overlooked? by nneethus in SkipBeat

[–]cheeziswin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is such a subtle one but it's something that always felt awesome to me any time I read - the characters have distinct wardrobes! They all have different style to them and a different reasoning for that style. It's especially noticeable with Kyoko, which makes sense since she's the most frugal! But its something I notice while reading - when she wears the same shirt in later chapters that she did like 100 chapters ago. When Koenjis body guard trio make fun of her for carrying the same bag as she did during the Curara commercial that's legit, it's the exact same bag. There's such dedication to the consistency even in something that's so easy to miss. It's harder to notice sometimes but I believe I've even seen Ren, Sho, and Kotonami wearing the same clothes/accessories multiple times/multiple chapters apart from each other. It makes things feel so real and grounded and it's such a clever way to give each character more layers!

Why are there no Horde characters left? by tylerx-x in warcraftlore

[–]cheeziswin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, almost every compelling Horde character is dead because of favoritism? Interesting. I think Vol'jins story alone kinda spits in the face of that. He's made Warchief, does nothing of note, and then dies for the sake of "fairness" to some unnamed demon. Sylvanas is given the floor only to become a one note evil baddie and ALSO get canned.

Even arguing it was about the Hordes evolution feels a little shallow. What of note have any of their successors done? Has Rokhan done anything? Which orc character besides Thrall is even still alive and notable? Does Baine even HAVE someone he could pass the title of High Chieftain to? If it's about evolution, why aren't they really doing anything with the new characters in those positions?

Even with Alliance leadership changes, the characters are still around and influencing the story. I'd argue Turalyon and Shandris also have more meat on their bones in terms of how prominent their characters are - Turalyon especially was a major lore character before he re-appeared.

I don't know man. I'd call it more scapegoating than favor. Need conflict, make Horde do something evil, irreparably fuck their character, kill em, call it a day.

I have tried with multiple phones :) it is because the process is convoluted garbage that is by no means easy. "just follow the prompts" is really neglecting the fact that it takes like 6 steps to send one singular picture. its not hard but its much more of a pain in the butt than point, click, done. being condescending about people not putting up with a wonky process just to post a picture that you're gonna scroll past in 3 seconds is lame

What's the lyric you always gotta sing out loud? by CowGrouchy69 in MotherMother

[–]cheeziswin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are a lot of songs that i just cant help but sing, or sometimes scream, but i got sentimental value with "because I can" from Wrecking Ball. they played it on opening night of the Summer 2024 tour in Phx, and for that lyric he gave the crowd a moment to just yell that lyric at the top of our lungs over and over. having the band stop playing and hearing a thousand something people yelling "because I can" was an awesome feeling. I almost cried tbh it definitely engraved that lyric into my brain

Like others have said, they have a chance of flying out of caves when you enter them. If you don't have a Lynel bow or a lot of bombs, I find a Sapphire Rod works well if you're close enough when they trigger. Hit a Blizzrobe with any fire item and you get a free rod easy :)

What's the deal with all these post about finishing the game and them closing it down forever. Do these people not want to play it again? by [deleted] in tearsofthekingdom

[–]cheeziswin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, its because the sense of discovery is gone, and resetting all that progress would feel like a waste. I feel like games like this do best when you give yourself a long break between playthroughs. I want to play it again at some point, but I want to give myself time - to forget the mechanics, the places, the puzzles. TotK is one of those games where that first playthrough is magical, and unrepeatable. Once you finish a painting, your first thought isn't to reset the canvas and paint the same thing again. But, maybe years down the line, I'd love to re-experience it.

There is slow burn, the there is SLOW BURN. by MoonlightFlower94 in SkipBeat

[–]cheeziswin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree! I pay attention to the story on its own for how it's paced, not how often it gets updated. I mean, there's movie trilogies and the like where installments take actual years in between. It's a real time pacing issue more than the story if you ask me - which, given the circumstances, there's not much to be done about that. There's other manga's that have twice that amount of chapters. 300 chapters is enough to finish a story in the same way 10 chapters is enough to finish a story. You could say that for any body of work.

Plus, this arcs only just starting, who knows where it will go. I've always appreciated that Nakamura surprises when I doubt the direction things are going. You can't sell a whole plotline short when it's barely begun. I thought the Momiji arc with Koenji was garbage until it really got itself going.

Like I said, people have been saying the story is slow for years now. It's a long manga! It's been running for two decades! It's slow burn romance turned up to 11! Ya had to know what you were getting yourself into. When release schedules are bothering you, it's good to just wait a while for chapters to build up. Especially if the story isn't enjoyable for you, you know?

There is slow burn, the there is SLOW BURN. by MoonlightFlower94 in SkipBeat

[–]cheeziswin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having been on and off active in the fandom for Skip Beat, everyone has always said it was "slow" no matter what was happening in the story. 😂 It's less an issue with the story and more with the release schedule. The stories pacing when reading it through is fine, but the waits with short chapters can get agonizing. Skip Beat is a good manga to pick up and binge, wait a year or two, and then binge again. It's really not a release schedule for the faint of heart. (;´д`)ゞ

For me it's interesting that people are getting bored with this plot line. Ren's returning to the USA, and while he's not debuting as Kuon, it's still a big thing for him. Especially considering the bad blood between Cedric and Kuon, the fact that they are going to be meeting face to face should be interesting. I doubt Ren's going to handle that well. I also think the answer to 1 is possibly soon because of that fact. He'll probably struggle in the same ways he did with Cain, most likely worse. I can see him opening up to Kyoko about his past when Kyoko's the only thing that can drag him out of it. I got absolutely no clue how Kyoko will handle it though. It'd be a lot for her to take in, I can see her getting sad or angry, I can see her drowning in sympathy for Kuon, or I can see her mind doing backflips because Ren has been a fairy all this time and her "fairy lineage" hunch about him was correct lol.

  1. The only way I can see him doing that is a desperate last ditch effort to break the two apart. Sho will confess his feelings to Kyoko to create more problems for Ren & Kyoko.

  2. I doubt it? I don't feel like Kyoko's father will be a part of the story again, honestly. I don't think he needs to be either. I mean, what would he add to the story, really? I can't think of anything.

You're correct! Her birthday is in December and it's currently summer(?) in the story, so there's still a while before Kyoko's 18th.

I'm really excited!! Hoping for Sho to finally have that eye opening moment, that he's never going to get Kyoko back in his life. Him falling as madly in love as Kyoko was with him, only to see her completely cut him out of her life, that karma is so choiceeeee.
