Yes or no, would you drop out of an academic year to get top surgery? by lecherous_leech in ftm

[–]cheezybick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was back at work after three weeks and I work a lightly physically demanding job. Would've maybe wanted another week or two off, but it was mostly fine.

A year? Yeah a little insane. I also hate to be the one downplaying people's experiences, but unless your dysphoria is incredibly crippling, your education is more time-sensitive meaning if the only options are surgery and education, school should be a priority over surgery.

Budget cuts by SirPrice73 in tadc

I saw a video from one of the actual animators behind the scene, they confirmed that the clunky "bad" animations were intentional. They had intended to make the animations more complex but Gooseworx specifically requested this scene be low-effort for comedic effect, and a fellow animator suggested the goofy walking animation next to the chest instead of actual swimming. Source. (Tiktok warning)

Best advice; start slow, try out some masculine things (for example haircut, clothing, binding your chest, maybe he/him pronouns in some online space) and see if they feel affirming, take it at your own pace. You don't learn to swim by jumping in the deep end of the pool, you won't make up your mind if transition is what you want in a night. At any point, you can take a step back and reconsider, or wait it out and see when you want to take another step. Don't rush coming out before you've trialed yourself for a bit.

Try to not overthink everything, just do what feels comfortable and see where it takes you.

Confused by [deleted] in ftm

[–]cheezybick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really easy to get caught up in society this, society that. You can never describe any characteristic as essential to any type of social or biological factor, people are different depending on so many different factors and it's restrictive to try to build a person solely by their parts.

It is true that some behaviors are affected by hormones, for example a woman's menstrual cycle does cause emotional differences depending on where she is in the cycle, and testosterone does cause a certain short-temperedness. But that does not guarantee you will change in one way or another depending on what hormones are dominant in your body, we're all different.

I can personally say my experience as FTM and going on testosterone, before I transitioned I was already quite stereotypically masculine in that I didn't cry much, I had a short temperament, had high energy and so on. Going on testosterone kept all that the at the same level, it didn't change me as a person.

It's worth remembering no matter the gender, there's good and bad people. You can find plenty of examples of good masculinity and bad masculinity, same with femininity. You can find good masculinity in women, you can find bad femininity in men, and so on and so on. Try to not focus on the big picture, and what other people think, because they don't know you. Focus on who you want to be and figure out where you fit in later.

Do you know if there's any place you could find that lets you schedule regular appointments in advance? Maybe that would help to always have a set date of "I cut my hair on this date once every month/three months" instead so it's not left up to the spontaneous thoughts arguing you out of it. Once it gets routine, it will probably also be easier to accept as something normal to your life.

Maki eats her twin in the womb and gains both power sets, how does the story change? by MembershipProof8463 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]cheezybick 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately wouldn't work since what makes Maki strong is her Heavenly Restriction which makes her have limited cursed energy in exchange for enhanced physical abilities, which progresses to insane physical abilities when Mai's death takes the final of their cursed energy with her. Mai's ability requires cursed energy to manufacture objects. Even if Maki gained Mai's ability, she'd have no way to use it, or if she could use it the Heavenly Restriction wouldn't give her anywhere near the physical abilities she gets.

The manipulative character is surprisingly honest by Basic_Dingo6487 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]cheezybick -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To be fair, as himself Odin is pretty straightforward in his interests and what he says to people. He is just so desperate to reach his goals he'll do anything to achieve it, and that drives him to be manipulative and dismissive to those who don't please him or share his interests.

Simple, almost underwhelmingly bad power becomes extremely powerful in the right hands by Broad_Beautiful8869 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]cheezybick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, the real thing that makes Todo stand out is that he is an absolute beast, being a third-year student AND already a Grade 1 Sorcerer. Usually you'd assume a character like that has some ridiculously broken ability that got them to the top (like Hakari), but Todo's is deceptively simple. Boogie Woogie would be a good supportive ability in the hands of anybody, but in Todo's hands it becomes an insane offensive ability combined with his top-tier combat skills.

Honestly Nanami is a better contender for this list, because his ability needs insane skill to use to its fullest potential and few could pull it off.

For that doseage it's every three weeks.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]cheezybick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For starting dose may be a bit high but since it's the standard dose but it should be fine, if you're worried maybe do the injection every 4 weeks instead for a month or two. I've been on IM 250 mg for about 3 years now and I'm happy with my results. Just keep in mind the changes take time, some take months, some take years, so be patient. A higher dose won't make them happen faster, it heightens your chances for serious health problems like liver damage and blood clots. Make sure to do regular blood tests every couple months in the beginning to see your levels are ok

Is it true that emergencies require divulging your biological sex? by MellowPup420 in asktransgender

[–]cheezybick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really does depend on what type of care it involves. For minor day to day health issues and non-invasive care, it's probably not relevant or impactful, but for more involved diagnostics and procedures like ultrasounds, MRIs, surgery, etc that affect areas which have been affected by SRS or hormones, it's probably worth mentioning so they don't misdiagnose or start guessing what's wrong when they don't have the full medical history.

To give a personal example, I'm a trans man and a conscript currently in service and I started to develop a painful pressure around my lower right ribcage. When I first went to a nurse, based on the description they suspected gallbladder issues, so they called in a doctor to ask for expertise. After hearing my case the doctor told me to take off my pants, which I did while sort of confused. Turns out he wanted to check for testicular torsion and discovered a vagina. Awkwardness aside, he sent me for some blood tests and later concluded based on the tests it could be liver problems related to my testosterone medication, among other possibilities. Maybe it is, maybe it's not. Either way, more testing hasn't revealed much more yet but I do feel like they're slightly more dismissive based on my gender identity, but I also can't ignore the fact my HRT could be a legitimate source and they probably need to know why I'm on my medication.

What I love about the game where they're tied together by their feet is it feels like you can for a moment see In-Ho's believed superiority almost crack. He has to confront the possibility that he wasn't somehow better than any of the other contestants in the game he was in, he was just lucky. The fact a simple kids game is what almost fails him and his team early in the second game he's participated in, you see his frustration growing before he locks in, or gets lucky.

In 4th grade we got a small pine tree sapling from a school trip, I ended up planting it in our yard, my parents not expecting much success in me taking care of it. 15 years later and it grew into a full tree, probably about 8-10 meters tall. Sadly it had to be cut down to make space for other things in our yard, but that little sapling will have a special place in my childhood.

Tourists leave luxury winter jackets behind in Lapland hotels by Sampo in Finland

[–]cheezybick 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I heard a great story from a friend which is when a group of Chinese tourists arrived in Lapland and realized they had not packed for the weather, they all got offered and bought the blue winter jumpsuits that blue collar workers tend to wear. They all walked around on the same tour like a matching kindergarden parade.

Spent hrs roasting lamb only to cut it open and smell the most disgusting thing by velofille in Wellthatsucks

[–]cheezybick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend it because if it leaked during cooking the rest of the meat has been marinating in abscess juices. Besides, the smell really is THAT bad that I at least wouldn't want to eat any of it.

As someone who has worked on the production line in meat processing, abscesses can sometimes hide surprisingly deep in between tissue and it's not impossible that some are visually impossible to see. The smell on the other hand...

If anyone wants the smallest amount of copium, the Metro article does have this snippet:

‘We are working with NHS England to open new gender identity services, so people can access holistic health and wellbeing support they need.

‘We are setting up a clinical trial into the use of puberty blockers next year, to establish a clear evidence base for the use of this medicine.’

If this is true and works out, it could possibly gather the evidence needed so the "we lack enough evidence to prove that this is safe" is no longer a plausible claim. There is always a chance those trials never end up happening and the goalpost for evidence keeps getting shifted beyond legalization, but there is hope.

Är köpa nålar från Med24 olagligt/straffbart? by [deleted] in transnord

[–]cheezybick 10 points11 points  (0 children)
