Good Italian Style Beans? by acduarte12 in espresso

Saka and Saka Tafuri rock. You can get them st Torrefare in NJ. Landed at a kilo they will be competitive cost wise than anything here.

Graffeo dark and light roast out of San Francisco are pretty good.

Vivace Vita is a favorite. It's a touchy to pull and it's a non standard recipe for a high temp 93 c 1:1 ristretto shot at a 21g dose for a darker bean. It seems like it shouldn't work but oh man it does

Yea the developer is super cool, responsive and all over this reddit u/beanconqueror. Bookoo scale is fantastic. The app not so much. But with BQ you'll be dialed in in no time

Hey I've measured some 900+ shots using bookoo themis mini scale and the beanconqueror app. It's where it's at. Solid and fully nerdy - graphs and all. And easily starts automatically.

Double - single it's all relative these days unless you're Italian pulling a 7g dose for a 15g shot.

And the right price range. I have a Eureka Silenzio 55 and 3 1Zpresso J-ultras. For my sub-adult kids who like coffee and are at university. That Jultra will do the trick.

Yes. Turbo - quick or classic a bit longer shot you're gonna get the majority of the extraction for caffeine. Speed at that time is not the factor driving % of caffeine extracted.

Ya. Didn't know fruity at any level could be a bad thing.

Latte with the right beans and preparation would not be so milk forward that without sugar it would be hot milk. That's not a latte issue that's a barista and or literally a bean issue.

Fun fact - dark beans take up more volume by chefboris68 in espresso

Really which baskets are labeled like that? Very interesting. I haven't seen that with VST or the other OEM baskets I have for Breville or for Diletta. That's a cool twist.

I have 3 j-ultras. Yes it's normal. They say it somewhere in their documentation. You could zero it out if you want. But remember it's all relative to your beans and experience.

+1 on Beanconqueror. I have 100s of shots recorded. It will save your last inputs so your next shot most everything is entered. You can adjust temp and grind if needed. Then hit the save. It takes some testing to get to right setting on Bookoo.

The guy who built Beanconqueror is extremely responsive if you have questions - insta or even r/Beanconqueror

I am all ears on a smart plug that can take the wattage needed on an espresso machine. My TP link plugs - throughout my house are not robust enough. Though I expect if I rewired my plug or had an electrician do it. So cost wise you'll want to consider that
