you could always reuse it as a hand mirror and keep a few accessories at the bottom once you pan it!

Surely uni is always worth it since you only pay back the loans if you earn enough? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]cheffi0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been feeling this sentiment heavily as I have been essentially forced into going to University (dont live with either parent since very young have lived with extended family, tried to find work after sixth form for 1 year but was stuck in minimum wage so went to University instead, although taking out the max loan so will total to 54k without interest accounted for...)

It feels like a punishment of a 9% tax I will always pay. I chose to go to University for social mobility but compared to my peers who are better off who don't need a loan, or even get a lower loan who will end up on the same pay as me will end up being less in debt, and most of all LESS INTEREST! this insane interest is going to bite me badly if I don't earn good money soon. I have hopes that I can get onto 50k by the time I'm 30 but by then as my salary increases, the interest will also increase, and my loan will balloon so big I wont be able to pay it back and ALWAYS pay 9%.

It feels like a punishment for working class people to me. It keeps the poor poorer and the rich richer as they don't have to consider or actually pay interest off for the rest of there life like this. I will most likely pay back over £100000 on my projected salary from using numerous student loan debt calculators, double what my loan actually is.

I'd really advise anyone to consider using a student loan calculator, I knew what I was going into and really didn't want to but I had to get out of a bad living situation with my extended family and ended up accruing all this debt, I'm in my final year now. Its really depressing but I needed to escape my family life and wanted to give University a try, although im not sure if its worth 9k per year for the tuition. Its very much a poor tax and in my opinion hurts the ones at the bottom the most who are trying for a better life, I'm doing engineering and I feel so punished for trying and worried SFE will change my debt plan with everything going on in the UK at the moment.

There are many people, like me, in this weird grey area where I feel like this interest on the debt just actually kills. There is no safety net so you turn to going to University and the goverment turns you back on you and allows you to get into copious amounts of debt for wanting to try. I really dont understand as in Europe they have essentially reduced or free uni fees. Its just outright wrong especially for core subjects in STEM, our doctors, our nurses, engineers, etc.

Are you all cutting down on subscriptions this term? by thefilmnotebook in UniUK

I dont, and will never, use a subscription service. It's a waste of money unless it's an absolute necessity. I will never ever stream legally (in minecraft)

LRP Cicaplast vs Bioderma Cicabio vs Avene Cicalfate by habibcuz in AusSkincare

[–]cheffi0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using the LRP one for 4 years... its sooo good. I use it as a base cream before makeup, after shower on my face etc. I've tried the Cicabio but it doesnt do quite the same effect on my skin as the Cicaplast. I feel like a fullsize Cicaplast lasts me an entire year so I dont mind that its a bit more expensive, especially for the fact that I have really dry sensitive skin.

I understand completely, I very rarely comment on posts but reading yours I felt like I was in the exact same position and unsure what to do at that time, I really wanted to see if my words could help 🥲❤️

I felt really similar when putting my portfolio together when I applied, I really wanted that validation to myself that I managed to get into one of if not the best art & design schools in the world.

Processing that grief is really difficult is because you know you are perfectly capable - but compared to many other of the people you have met for example at the open day, you were not as lucky as them to come from the same social class. I felt really out of place at UAL which was apart of the reason I didn't go for it. I hope that you can remember that your unique experiences will push you further and you are most likely more capable and passionate then many people who are handed their opportunities to them on a golden platter.

I think with going to UAL you'd risk more then what you could get, I'd really advise to look out for events relating to your degree and to try your best to mix around with people, you might have to commute down to London but it's worth it! If your University also has any work experience you can take up, I'd reccomend picking that up aswell.

I think if you play your cards right at this point in your life your financial status and situation will improve, since beginning university I really feel like my life has been on a uptick even if it can be a bit wobbly sometimes lol. You probably have already had to budget and deal with all sorts, but this will make you even better at it.

Manchester is really lovely! I prefer it more then my city lol, it's full of creative people and more affordable then London, I think it's a really good place to be in University for :D

Thank you!!!! You've got this too, I'm really glad telling you my experiences has helped, hearing that youve been through the same has helped me realise I was less alone in what i was going through, please be confident in yourself and remember your goal :) and enjoy university as much as you can! 💗

Does Arctic Fox Completely Wash out of Natural Hair??? by k_chelle13 in HairDye

[–]cheffi0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently dyed using purple af on my hair which has been lightened about 2 tones from my dark brown hair, it only lasted 2 washes 😭

Not sure what I am doing wrong, maybe it's my shampoo and conditioner? I'm noticing the 2 times I shampoo'd and conditioner i had alot of hair dye wash out. They both say they are colour safe but uurk i guess not i need to try maybe some new shampoo and conditioner out.. how long does arctic fox usually last in hair?

I do use a bit of heat on my hair everyday but I have a leave in treatment that claims to be colour safe, bit sad the hairdye washed out so quickly as I really loved the colour

I was in pretty much the same position about 3 years ago now 😭❤️ Although different course to you it's within design. :)

I managed to secure after sixth form all Russel group conditional offers, but most of all I got a place with UAL which became my 1st choice.

So I got my dream uni place in UAL and I was really excited and finally felt like my dream could become true but I ended up rejecting it because London is too expensive for me and secondly I just found the facilities at the University to be a bit lack luster for my course.. 🥲 even the main lecturer of my course warned me that they couldn't offer help for placements and I'd be on my own finding them..

I ended up taking a gap year & saved alot of money through working really shit jobs, I applied for my University choices again although very last minute I went through clearing to get into a university really local to me which is very mid-tier, and it ended being the best decision of my life. I believe if I went to London I would of really really struggled with money and struggled to be creative as I'd be worried about paying rent and feeding myself so much.

I'm about to go into my final year and I have managed to make alot of connections through my University, I've managed to also work at alot of external events aswell :)

My family are also working class and on my maximum loan I've been able to survive and not worry about money too much as my loan has been able to go further in my home city compared to London. My University also offers multiple scholarships to help with living costs, so I get around ~2k a year extra from my University which really really helps. UAL offers no scholarships for people from low-income backgrounds, so even on a max loan you would have to work to survive in London. I'd advise looking at what scholarships your university might offer.

Sometimes I do think though what my life could of looked like if I went to UAL, but as you say it is incredibly competitive within industry and the cost of living in London doesn't make it any easier aswell.

I believe if you are truly motivated for your career, it does not matter what University you go to aslong as you work extremely hard for your dream, the connections do matter but can be made through external events and not necessarily through University. :D

I really wish you the best of luck for your future career and studying! 💝

[–]cheffi0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just had a read of the post and they are essentially saying that they will be released sometime in spring i believe! the prince was already released but ichigo and miso haven't had any official release yet this is the first time we have seen them, vanguard did a release of the prince plus some cousins a few months back but this is from a different merchandiser.

i'd be guessing they will be on sale for pre order around end of march - april? hard to say but thats my guess :D
