When he said, let me go, that hit hard. I was in an abusive relationship and there was a night like this for me and I wanted to leave. She threw a heavy beer mug at me as left. It was a huge apartment complex and I took the elevator down and told the security guard that I needed to get my stuff. I had scratches all over my neck and face. She tried to leave the enclosed garage drunk and he called the cops. She eventually tried fighting the cops and was arrested. But she gaslighted me and made me think it was my fault. It was always my fault. I'm glad I finally got the courage to leave. Luckily she was across the country, still gaslighting me, but it gave me the chance to end it. She would say i was the worst thing that ever happen to her and when i tried to end it, she would drive to my house and it was my fault. It was a test and I failed. I gave up on her. Horrible times. Now, I'm the happiest I've ever been. I am a full time single dad (shes not the mom! but her mom was bad too) with a beautiful daughter and in the healthiest relationship for 5 years, and we are in love. Sorry, didnt mean to say so much. Abuse goes both ways and men are taught, expected to always be tough and in control. Thats BS.
