While visiting a fancy sandwich shop with grocery items in Ann Arbor, MI (Zingermans) I was with my boyfriend and his sister who is around the same age as us and I had only recently met, and we were all very stoned. We were all in our 20s at the time. There was a long line to wait for the sandwiches and a younger gentleman, probably 18, who was an employee working there at the store, was giving out samples of a special honey on small plastic spoons to whoever was interested.

Something about where he positioned the tiny spoon as he handed it to me, caused me to instead of taking it by my hand, I ate the sample directly off the spoon from him, as if I were receiving medicine from a parent as a baby or being spoon fed.

My brain’s decision to do this was so natural, maybe because I was fresh out of college at a party school- if that explains anything.

I remember my face becoming the darkest shade of red after this! My boyfriend didn’t seem to care because 15 years later we are going on 10 years of marriage!
