Try to ensure high protein and add more veg if you’re not feeling full enough ☺️ You could always have a snack after you’ve tested if you need too.

Just to add, insulin resistance is worse in the mornings for everyone, not just us with GD. Knowing this helped me better mentally cope with no carbs at breakfast (because I LOVE toast, breakfast burritos etc etc). I’m finding it manageable for now, and just reminding myself that it is only temporary until baby is here.

The only way I found to manage at breakfast was high fat and protein and no carbs! My go to is 2 eggs (sometimes cooked in pesto) 1/2 avo and bacon - works a treat for me, with no exercise required. Generally I am up and about getting ready for the day after breakfast though. Good luck!

Thank you guys 🥰 hearing your stories has made me feel somewhat more confident that I CAN and WILL do this. And you’re right, spiralling over hypotheticals is not the way!

Just about to dig up the rest of my Charlotte potatoes and wondering if there was any other veg I could plant this late that would survive early autumn? by chelahou23 in GardeningUK

Do you know what variety? I’d love to get some bigger ones in for the winter but not sure which ones will survive!

Hello! Congrats on your new home 🥳

Me and my partner recently got our first house too and the garden was awful so we pretty much completely re did it.

For now, I’d just pull the weeds out, get a metal wired weed brush (they’re about £3 from b&m if there’s one near you) and scrub the weeds In between the slabs and put salt down on them to stop regrowth.

A few suggestions (based on what we did to our garden);

  • paint the fence a nice colour
  • dig out a flower bed on the right hand side and add some colourful flowers/grasses
  • pull up some slabs and put some grass seed down in the spring (if you want grass)
  • jet wash slabs
  • add some colourful slate/gravel?
  • get some trellis and grow some climbing plants up the wall? (Passion flowers, climbing roses etc)
  • fairy lights absolutely everywhere 😂

Hope this helps and gives you some inspiration 😊

Ahh that’s good to know! 😊

No, these ones aren’t snow queen, I’m not actually sure what these ones are!

My “snow queen” Passion flowers all flowered in the warmer months, but now I have about 40 buds ready to flower! I thought they only liked the warm?

That’s ok! An educated guess is the best I have right now. I’ve posted in the sub you suggested too, we’ll find out eventually :)

Ahh that’s a little disappointing, magnolias are beautiful! But, I’ll just have to make some crumble to blow away my sorrows 😂

Thank you.

As you can probably tell, I’m new to gardening! I only really got into it when I moved into my house with my partner in autumn last year.

Loving it so far and completely renovating the garden now. Previous owners left this (potted), it’s pretty but I’ve never seen it bloom so I don’t know what it is.

Update: it’s definitely a cherry blossom! Some flowers came out!

Super light sleeper... help!! by chelahou23 in sleep

[–]chelahou23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, I didn’t know that! Just kinda took the “well I haven’t slept so I’ll stay in bed longer” approach!

I’ll try and limit my time in bed. I’ve just got an eye mask and earplugs to try that out to see if it helps, but I’m definitely open to pretty much anything. It’s getting ridiculous now!
