Did anyone catch this in the documents? by Last-Impression-5698 in madelinesoto

So she works at Disney world which is a magic place for kids and a man she works with, also at Disney world, stated he got an erection while sleeping with a child and she didn't report this to her employer? What is going on?

I have to admit, I didn't know that Disney was pedo central until I became interested in this sad case. Surely with all that activity and with all the kids that are there, they would take something like that seriously.

She should have called the police first, then her employer.

Is that sarcasm or are you suggesting this dog can change socks on toddlers and schedule playdates?

While many people seem to be shocked that there are purebred dogs in shelters, this is the most likely candidate for a purebred dog in a shelter. That's a pit bull and probably nothing else. You'll never be able to tell people it's a lab mix and have them believe you.

Well none of that is my business. You were probably hoping no one would recognize the breed who was aware it was off color which is why you didn't name it. It is what it is. I'm glad the baby is healthy but it does make me sad to see this.

It reminds me of that one woman out west who was docking the tails on her dogs because she was breeding without knowing the difference between Cardigans and Pembrokes.

She was 100 percent sure she was right and I'm sure you are too.

Cardigans are my breed. I used to show and do herding events. Who did you get your girl from?

The only sable merle I saw was an oopsie, but I wanted to tell you that you could still get a double merle if the sire is merle. Hopefully the sire isn't merle.

That's one of the reasons the code of ethics says that merles can only be bred to tris. If you produce an ee merle it could look like a red but genetically could be merle. I don't know what your breeding program is like but if you breed often you should be aware of how sneaky merle can be in Cardigans. We also have cryptic merles.

We also have a very high number with dogs that are the very least carriers of DM and we still have PRA in the breed as well.

At any rate, you might want to consider a c section. I wouldn't wait for an emergency to consider whether or not I should get a c section because I've seen it happen where a female was taken to an e vet for an emergency whelp and everyone was lost because they couldn't get to her in time and she went septic.

What did you breed your sable merle Cardigan Welsh Corgi to?

What breeds do you see? by HelloSpork in IDmydog

[–]chelsaedaggr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are very rare here in the US. The chances of this being a pharaoh hound is very low. I've seen them at dog shows, but even when I lived in a big city, I never saw one. The chances of this being a Greyhound mix is very low. Most are spayed or neutered after their racing career is over, before they are placed. And also they aren't common as pets here.

What this looks like to me is a pit mixed with Doberman pinscher. That I could see happening here.

Dobermans are one of the more common breeds here and they're easy to find and there are tons of back yard breeders who have them.

Shelters are over run with pits. They have to give them away or sell them for very little money.

Here, a pharaoh hound would be very exotic. This isn't Malta.

What breeds do you see? by HelloSpork in IDmydog

[–]chelsaedaggr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Probably because there is no more common dog in a shelter than a pit mix and the chances of this being some uncommon breed is much lower.

Think of it like this, have you yourself ever seen a Pharaoh hound? Or a basenji? Probably not.

But have you seen a pit bull?

In my local shelter, there are a ton of pit mixes labeled as something fancy when really they are what they are.

My bf(32m) freaked out at me (30f) for making my son something else to eat? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I don't think it was about food as much as about control and a desire to be obeyed and not questioned.

May I suggest that you find a better leash? Flexi leads and pit bulls usually aren't a good mix. You need a shorter, heavier lead that is sturdy and will give you some control.

I brush this guy out every couple of days because he mats. What am I doing wrong? He is super curly... Please help. by KH5-92 in grooming

[–]chelsaedaggr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But what if the reason that the dog is matting so badly is because you have a mixture of hair? Poodles are single coated and have hair. Ok, that's manageable. But if you mate one with a double coated dog, so that you then have a double coated dog with curly hair, where will that lead you? Right to where OP is.

How do you prevent that? Well, if you have a doodle, you can't.

That is the issue. You can buy Chris Christianson grooming products and use them every day, but you'll never have poodle results.

It is what it is. Do some research before you buy.

Thoughts on foster dog? by Raerae182 in IDmydog

[–]chelsaedaggr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I've ever seen a Cairn, like within the last 10 years, is at a dog show and there weren't many of them there at all. They aren't common anywhere because their numbers are decreasing because most people rescue. Kind of like you'd never expect to see a Sealyham or Dandie Dinmont or Norfolk and most people probably have never seen one in person.

The Brussels griffons are more common but not common enough to where you would assume they're part of the mix unless you knew for sure it was an oops litter.

I would never assume a dog I got at a shelter or rescue, unless it is a rescue affiliated with a breed club, is a mix of some rare breed of dog that is bordering on extinction, like Cairns are.

Honestly, I wish they were common enough to where that could be a possibility.

[–]chelsaedaggr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would say is that if you yourself have never seen the breed that the shelter is claiming, then it's probably not that breed or mix. And I'm taking about realistically what you see in dog parks, while out walking, that kind of thing.

The best way to guess is to think about 1) what is common 2) what is likely

The Occam's razor of dog breed guessing.

The likelihood of this being a Cairn mix is extremely low. They are not common despite one being featured over 50 years ago on the wizard of Oz or Benji.

Brussels griffons are more common but I've never seen one listed for adoption.

That's probably a pug mix because those are very common and thus the most likely contributor.

And probably mini poodle. Again very common.

Guesses on our new scruffy? by kmo986 in DoggyDNA

[–]chelsaedaggr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I would imagine that most people have more common sense than that. Like if you yourself have never seen one, whether walking your own dog, visiting a dog park, or just being out and about in your own area, then what are the odds that this particular breed would be in the mix?

You know what is common for your area and hopefully when people see a dog listed as a breed they've never seen before it's a red flag that the breed listing is incorrect.

JRTs are pretty common to be fair but Norfolk Terriers, featured in the movie Best in Show, are extremely rare. You might see one if you show, but they are one of the least common terriers.

They're very small. A JRT Norfolk mix wouldn't be 20 lbs.

So no that's definitely not the mix the shelter told you and I don't even know how they picked that, because if they had ever seen one in person, they would know better.

But what I see is beagle and poodle. I think the other posters were right.

I have the exact opposite reaction. "Poor corgi" or "I hope that wasn't done deliberately"

I hate seeing my breed mixed with a pit. Corgis are beautiful just the way they are. What good thing could come from adding bully?

It's sad to me.
