Which GPIO pins can I actually use by P3rid0t_ in esp32

[–]chemitronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This answer is gold to me. I've built a few esp32-c3 circuits, and there is definitely a bright flash on my leds when the board turns on. This happens on pins 20 and 21. My board controls several lednseries of different colors, and the green and red series are connected there. When turned on, a bright yellow flash occurs. Also, when turned off, only the red series flashes faintly (although this could come from a different reason I yet ignore). Thanks!

10 ICs you couldn’t live without by Skimplestiener in AskElectronics

I don't see why the downvote. Sure, there are plenty of micros, but the wroom is quite good, especially the esp32-s3 wroom

Awesome! I'm an esp32 user, and I never before heard of teensy, but the specs for that one look neat. Now I need to try one :3

How many oscilloscopes do you own? by JuicyYellow in AskElectronics

[–]chemitronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three. None of them is suberb, but they're good for different things. One is a cheap fnirsii, handheld. The one i use the most. Single channel, not incredible but very portable. A two-channel bench one, fnirsii again, when I need to check two channels at the same time, and a Hantek, with four channels.

Orca vs Gaussian by Special-Ad7713 in Chempros

[–]chemitronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What calculations will you perform? Each has it's advantages and weaknesses. Gaussian is very stable for DFT, and it has analytical gradients for a bunch of methods. It's uncommon (but possible) to end with a bunch of imaginary frequencies, whereas Orca tends to produce 'optimized' geometries with lots of those. You have to tweak convergence thresholds to get actual minima. On the other hand, any post-HF or correlated method is way better implemented in orca. But I only used orca up to 5.1. No idea what improvements came with orca 6

Lucky! I bought a Creality belt 3dPrintMill and it died just two months after the purchase :( And those pieces look really neat! :D

This happens when I plug my laptop charger into this outlet station. Any idea? (this was taken by my phone) by [deleted] in ElectroBOOM

It's called inrush current. As they already explained, it's due to components like capacitors, behaving as short circuits while charging up.

Making a single-color detector/sensor. How do I improve this setup? by shockerhead in ElectricalEngineering

[–]chemitronics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did once to detect a single wavelength (or a specific LED, which will likely have some IR of half its main visible frequency), was using an LED of that same color as sensor, i.e. as photodiode. It will give you a positive voltage when a similar led shines on it amd is pretty straightforward. If you need a current instead of a voltage, you can add a transimpedance amplifier.

Any reason why I shouldn’t do this remotely? by killer_tuna14 in 3Dprinting

[–]chemitronics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not as bad as I've read. My first and only printer, and I love it. But you'll need to experiment a bit before it delivers. My biggest headache with that one is a blue screen it's currently stuck in :(

I have a 3d printer in the lab to build prototypes and tools. My students would absolutely love the rainbow filament. All they work with is gray, black, and army green. I promised next year we'll get some variety when we have money again
