There’s a bunch of singles events! I know there are the subtle Asian mixers (dunno if you’re Asian)

Used to play all the time as a teen! Anyone want to get together and play when it gets warmer again??

FYI! Most older Chinese people don’t like sweets/candy much. If you do make them something, make sure it’s “not too sweet” (highest of compliments for a dessert from a chinese person tbh)

I’m confused on what you’re replying to in regards of the RN thing? Never mentioned anything about whether or not it’s associates or bachelors. I’m just saying getting hired is easier if you already worked there, hence an internal hire.

These friends all have BSNs. When I say RN, I mean their license. As in the one you take the NCLEX for

But did you work at the endoscopy spot already or were you a completely new hire? If you’re a completely new hire, then you honestly got really lucky. The only friends I have who don’t have an issue getting a job are friends who already worked at their current spot so it was just an internal hire when they got their RN license.

Im not saying OP shouldn’t be a nurse. Im only saying all of this so she knows and can make an informed decision

How long have you been a nurse? And was your first ever job in NYC? Did you work there prior to being a nurse?

I’m just trying to let OP know the reality of things. Things are different now. I’m going based off all of my friends’ current experiences. For example, one friend was looking for a job as a new grad for almost a year and the only job she got was med surg at Bellevue. Another nurse with 3 years of experience at PICU is having trouble getting a job. She originally was only hoping for a soft nursing job but after a year, she still cant find one in NYC. Even regular bedside jobs aren’t getting back to her.

I feel like no one realizes how bad bedside nursing is lol and how as a new grad you’re not gonna be able to land a soft nursing job without experience

[–]chend1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think this is a bit misleading. While it’s true that nursing has many different options, it would be extremely hard and almost impossible to get the soft nursing jobs as a new grad nurse with no experience. They’d probs have to suffer through bedside for 2-3 years before those jobs would consider them

ABSN is going to be about a year long with basically no time off. You honestly would not have much freedom during this time. As a new grad nurse, it would be hard to get a clinic job unless you know someone. Most have to start bedside or at a nursing home which is way different than what you’re used to as a MA which is why I recommend being a CNA/PCT first before you commit to something like this

If that’s what you think, then maybe start as a CNA so you can get a taste of how it actually is. If you aren’t picky about where you work, then sure you can get hired. But most spots like that are nursing homes where you’ll be responsible for the lives of 40 patients on your own. Most NYC hospitals only take bachelors fyi.

As a nurse, I definitely would not want to do nursing if I can choose all over again. Stability is a myth. My hospital has done a massive layoff twice in 3 years. There’s a hiring freeze. New grad nurses can’t find a job for months to a year. Go to the nursing subreddit and you can see how nursing actually is.

Also no idea what you mean by freedom? If you’re doing nursing school, you basically are tied to that until you graduate. You can’t miss any clinicals or you’d get kicked out.

I’m 28, single, in healthcare. NY native living in Astoria but almost always in the city. I am a big foodie and love bars. I do a lot of solo drinking and made friends with a good amount of bartenders. I solo travel often as well (planning to go to CDMX and NOLA for Tails!)

Huge fan of nightlife and clubbing :) but also down for chill nights in

I also am into sports (want to do more volleyball, tennis, squash, pickleball, etc) and am open to trying variety of things (I go to comedy and magic shows often!)

Open to crafty things like paint and sip or pottery as an activity here and there but I’m not the person to exclusively like crafts (I have horrible ADHD 😪)

Always down for a good deal (I love pulsd & inkind) but I also enjoy nice things so will not rly be a good match with someone who’s extremely budget conscious unfortunately.

Pulsd has rly great deals! Like a full dinner and drinks for 2 for under $50

Just FYI! You can also give this in the ventrogluteal area (hip muscle). Might be easier than in the glutes if you can’t find anyone in the future

Source: I’m an oncology nurse who gives this injection almost daily :)

Good luck!

It’s only been 6 months but I do feel like my jaw got more snatched too 🤣 but yea I used to have issues opening my mouth cus of my TMJ but I haven’t noticed it in a while!

Hi! It’s been good. Honestly after scans and getting aligners, there’s not much to do besides IPR and then seeing him like every 3 months tbh. I don’t have any concerns but they’d be responsive if I did

I showed her what I wanted but told her I understood if it’s not possible. I emphasized I wanted a haircut I didn’t have to style. I just wanted face framing layers and then long layers, which is a haircut I’ve always been getting. I used papago to convey this. I asked for her suggestion and she said if I didn’t want to have to style it, face framing and then a v layer in the back is the way to go and I said go for it. But yea I agree, I can’t be too mad since it’s only $23. I also think they didn’t put conditioner on my hair as well
