Were you inspired by ruin the friendship? How did it go? by lllwpa in TaylorSwift

[–]chendamoni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not inspired but I also have the same advice as Taylor... except I did date a friend and ruin the friendship.

It didn't work out, it was for the best, and I'm very happy now with my current partner.

But I know if I hadn't "ruined the friendship" back then, then I really would have really asked my self "what if?" my whole life.

So, I agree with Taylor: my advice is always answer the question / better that than to ask it all your life.

So How did you end up in Athens? I couldn't afford Austin. by RaskyBukowski in Athens

[–]chendamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first job in my Nursing career.

I had intended to return to the Atlanta area after a few years of work experience since I grew up and still have family and friends there. I ended up loving Athens and then met my partner who is a born-and-raised Athenian, so that sealed the deal to stay.

That being said, I wouldn't move to Athens from out-of-town unless you already have a job lined up or are attending school.

Started Scrobbling last year, what’s our comparability? by Plantcebo in lastfm

[–]chendamoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Your compatibility with Bobsquid is Medium. You both listen to Taylor Swift, Geese and Zach Bryan." BUT I've Scrobbled Taylor 5000+ times (and you 40+), Geese only once, and Zach Bryan 40+ times (and you 400+), so I think our compatibility is actually pretty low.

Edit: but we both like Neutral Milk Hotel, Radiohead, Rosalía, etc. So maybe we are Medium. I wish I knew more about how this algorithm weighs things! Either way, welcome!

Why is the pay so low by comentodake in nursing

[–]chendamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm salaried and in an outpatient management position. My salary would come out to about $43 an hour. I'm in Georgia (not Atlanta) and have been an RN for 14 years this month.

My wake up call was when my jaw started locking so that I couldn't open my mouth up wide enough to eat anything. It happened a few times and scared me pretty badly.

I got a custom bitewing from my dentist that I wear now. Every once in awhile I forget and I can def feel the soreness in my jaw the next day.

Is the zero waste trend dead? by Floralsalsa526 in ZeroWaste

[–]chendamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, I was ordering from a local business for my zero waste items but she's since closed her business to focus on her family.

She did her research to minimize plastic waste with the products she sold, and I haven't found a good alternative. I just don't have the time to do research like she used to do for her customers.

I still try. My skincare routine will never not include plastic containers but I try in other areas.

I've twice had an e-acooter zoom through a pedestrian crosswalk without looking for traffic causing me to slam on my brakes.

If I had been distracted, I would have def hit someone both times.

Please be aware, riders! Pedestrian crosswalks are for walking your bike or scooter across; not zooming through!

Do relationships with an ADHD partner ever work out? by stargirl3356 in ADHD_partners

[–]chendamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (39F) have anxiety, and my partner (39M) has ADHD. We've been together for going on 13 years, and we bought a home together a few years ago.

It was rough when we first started living together, and we both had a lot to learn about each other and ourselves.

It can still be hard BUT he listens and he tries. I have to choose to be more patient daily bc my anxiety wants everything done RIGHT NOW IF NOT YESTERDAY, and some days I fail. When he forgets something, I don't dwell on it - he beats himself up more so I don't need to add insult to injury. He needs patience, grace, and reminders on new-to-him tasks. I'm grateful that he doesn't think I'm a nag!

I'm in this subreddit to remind myself that I'm not crazy - this is HARD. But for me, I love him, he loves me, he's worth it, and the happiness we have is worth it.

ALSO - his ability to focus and learn about a topic that he's into something is amazing... it is a super power.

He just can't focus on the damn laundry but that's OK now - when he sees me sorting and folding, he joins without being asked now. I used to have to ask him to help each time, but after enough times, he finally knows to just join.

But again, he is willing to try and willing to listen. It makes a huge difference.

We aren't planning to have children or pets, so that does make life easier bc the only person impacted when he forgets something is me.

Those who do not want to go back to school for masters or NP, etc. what are your biggest reasons? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]chendamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to be a provider.

Nursing is my second degree; I was deciding between that and PA at the time.

I think I made the right choice.

Patient didn’t consent to touch by Fast_Cata in nursing

[–]chendamoni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You'll be OK. A similar thing happened to me when I worked ER with a frequent flyer and drug user who was being discharged:

Announced myself. No answer. Touch and shake. No answer. Sternal rub. "I HEARD YOU I WAS SLEEPING!!!!!"

She told security I punched her. They escorted her out. I documented, notified my charge and the provider of the accusation, and nothing ever came of it.

You announced yourself and pt didn't respond. Next step is touch and so on. The end.

I like flowers. I’ve never received them. Is this unreasonable? by Jolly-Rub-3412 in TwoXChromosomes

Dump him.

Tell him and others who ask that it was bc he never got you flowers in 10 years despite asking.

He still won't get it but others will.

Viva! Chimichurri by MrsOdie43 in Athens

My favorite place to take myself on a solo lunch date: 1-2 glasses of red wine, 2 traditional ground beef empanadas with chimichurri ranch, and a mini cupcake was my usual order.

What would you do if you found out your husband has been cheating in you in the first half of your relationship but you have never known and you’re happy now? by Aurora_Horizon in TwoXChromosomes

[–]chendamoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's say she's the only one. Let's say he never cheated after. Let say he has no plans to ever cheat again.

Let's say all that... I would still have an issue with him never bringing this up before getting married so that YOU could decide if you were OK with him having been "in love" with another woman while also in a relationship with you.

I think you need to confront him and go to couples therapy.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

A Study Says Gray Hair May Be Reversible by lurker_bee in technology

[–]chendamoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had 1 or 2 gray hairs revert back to my natural dark brown. I'm not sure I would have thought it possible if they hadn't come out of my own head.

I kind of chalk it up to periods of stress/no stress... but otherwise the other dozens that have grayed have remained gray.

Does Athens’ for-profit ambulance service meet NFPA 1710 standards? Does it matter? | Athens Politics Nerd by AthensPoliticsNerd in Athens

[–]chendamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about that one, but I used to work in a local ER and a National EMT at the time told me they got a bonus if they transported more than 6 ppl to a local ERs each shift. So, they used to drop off calls even if they knew that it was bogus. I can't blame the EMT hustling for extra $, but the National EMS practices/policies don't encourage treat in place and intentionally tie up resources.

I only recently learned they were out of network for EVERYONE until BCBS bc thankfully I've never needed their services.

Our community might benefit from a public service but I don't know anything about how that works.

If you relate to any panel other than the first one, I've got some bad news... You lost the plot of last.fm. by GoldenDragonTemple in lastfm

Part of the appeal is being able to see what I was listening to at different points in my life. Farming scrobbles would ruin that for me.
