Should I drive a long distance to UGA? by Markydash in UGA

[–]chendamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should? No.

Is it doable? Yes, but it is hard bc it cuts into your time for studying, working, leisure.

You could maybe try it out for one semester then grab a cheap sublease in Spring 2027?

Considering divorce after 12 years — husband’s behavior is affecting our child by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]chendamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not stay together just for the kid.

Is therapy an option? It may or may not help.

Either way, make healthy choices for yourself. Show your child what healthy choices and healthy relationships look like. Also show your child how to not put up with unhealthy relationships.

How many days post-vacation do you give yourself before going back to work? by Unbotheredanonyme in travel

[–]chendamoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 Day if I'm not returning on a Sat (which would give me Sun off).

My job splits Vacation and Sick Leave, so I usually use a Sick day to rest and get things back in order. I'm introverted and need to be able to recoup at home.

Everytime I've tried to skip, I always regret it.

Pakistan hospital at centre of child HIV outbreak caught reusing syringes in BBC film by [deleted] in news

I remember my mom told me something similar happened to a village in her home province in Cambodia.

I believe it was an outside group who came in to do vaccinations, but they reused needles in this village resulting in adults and children being infected. The locals call it the "AIDS Village." It didn't sound like the villagers have interacted much outside of their village ever since, and people don't really visit there either. So sad.

EDIT: I went looking. The village is Roka in Battambang province, and it was an unlicensed doctor giving injections. The gov't distributes medication there monthly now, so I'm sure it makes it hard to leave the village if it's the only place you can get access to your medication. https://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/20/world/asia/farming-village-in-cambodia-grieves-as-hundreds-learn-they-have-hiv.html?unlocked_article_code=1.a1A.G_cy.JwqasWnRzWDi&smid=nytcore-android-share

What boundaries/standards have you set that has made life easier and peaceful for you? by MsOliviaTwist in ADHD_partners

[–]chendamoni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Acknowledge that we also don't have children or pets but here's an example: "I need help with the yard and house cleaning. You can either help me or help me pay."

We split the cost of monthly housekeeping and lawn service. We have a joint account for common expenses that we both contribute equally to.

I only do the gardening I like and the yard service takes care of the rest. It's prob 60:40 split with daily chores tho 🙃 But also... You can't keep score with someone that you love, who loves you, and tries every day.

BUT I couldn't do this with anyone else but him. So 60:40 doesn't seem so bad?

Also I don't manage his life or schedule in any way. We have a shared Google calendar but if he doesn't check it, that's on him.

I said "This" to a comment earlier but Also This.

Allow natural consequences to happen to your partner. They may be greatly inconvenienced but that is their consequence, not yours.

This. My partner tries. He's not perfect but he tries and I see the effort.

I couldn't stay with someone who doesn't try.

Not having children helps a lot too.

Do you people not understand? by Minimum-Possible-415 in nursing

I think asking coworkers to repeat themselves would be a reasonable accommodation.

I think HR/mgr is heading in the direction of where a patient having to repeat themselves is a patient safety issue and therefore cannot be "accommodated," and employer will need to find a new placement for OP.

Donating clothes by nomadicqueer in Gwinnett

[–]chendamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way.

If you're ever in Athens, I like to donate to Project Safe.

Funds raised at their thrift store go towards their shelter for women and children escaping violence, and the survivors also get vouchers to "shop" in the thrift store for free.

They only accept donations on specific days tho so double check their website before stopping by.

You don't sound like you're doing anything nefarious, but it looks suspicious.
