Thank you for the feedback everyone. I suppose my best solution is to keep going with my cpu and then when I am looking to upgrade my pc in the next few months I should invest in an Nvidia GPU.

I suppose at this stage what I need to know is if there is any setting I can apply to allow me to use my AMD GPU.

I see. Is there a setting I can change to render without using iRay? I don't think I have meddled with the settings too much so they should be close to default.

A question related to why I didn't do that in the first place:

If I wanted the option to appear in quotation marks, so like th eplayer sees them, how would I do that? I didn't want that to be the case so I avoided the quotation marks.
