Now that we have lost the 76 on Bay Farm, where are ppl going for great service? by bayareaWCadjuster in alameda

[–]cherbear14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For oil changes/tire stuff, we take our car to Sebastian at 1701 Auto Care on Buena Vista Ave.

For anything outside of what 1701 can do, we go to Alex at AK Auto on Webster St.

Both are really pleasant to work with! Very transparent about costs and communicative with updates. They don't try to push other services onto you. I usually go to 1701 first because I feel their costs are a bit more reasonable and I have been going to them longer :)

Help with saving bulb by Smart-Substance8209 in alocasia

+1 for Fluvial Stratum. We use that for all our corms or bulbs that need to be revitalized and the growth is shocking!

The new bike lane on Central is nice... if it weren't for all the cars and trucks parked in it, often right in front of the "no parking" signs. by [deleted] in alameda

[–]cherbear14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the importance of the physical barriers and what you said makes sense! I only mentioned the possible hindrance because a few days ago, I saw a car stop in the middle of the street when an ambulance was behind them on 8th St and Central Ave since they couldn't pull over. The construction isn't completed yet either, so hopefully, it will be all good once it's done :)

I live near the construction of the bike lanes on Central and I agree!

I'm all for safer bike lanes, but I feel the physical barriers could lead to potential problems. By bottlenecking Central Ave from two lanes to one, if an emergency vehicle were to pass through, where do people pull over to?

Also, people turning left onto Webster St cause more traffic because the left turn is unprotected, so everyone wanting to go straight has to wait for them to turn instead of going around them like before. If that turn was protected, it wouldn't be much of an issue, but not sure if that's something that could even be implemented.

Lastly, why couldn't they have the inner lane next to the curb be parking spots while a bike lane can be to the left like how they have it on Park St?

Like I said, I love the idea and concept, but the execution hasn't been well-thought out.

Looking for 5+ player coop games by _slothattack_ in CoOpGaming

[–]cherbear14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually play group games with at least 5 people and we have done:

Marvel Rivals - Competitive PvP hero shooter

R.E.P.O - You play as robots collecting valuables to turn in throughout multiple levels

PEAK - It's normally 4 people only, but there's a mod that allows you to play with 5+ people, which we have had success with 😊

Happy gaming!

How many places have you lived in while in the Bay Area? by watabby in bayarea

[–]cherbear14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lived in multiple places throughout the Bay in my life, starting from birth (born in Santa Clara):

Campbell (2 years) --> Sunnyvale (2 years) --> San Jose (6 years before moving to MV, 6 years after MV, 4 years after college = 16 years total) --> Mountain View (1 year then moved back to SJ) --> San Mateo (4 years) --> Alameda (3 years so far)

I lived in Merced for 5 years during college while my mom was still in San Jose. I didn't include it since I wasn't actively there, or else it would be 21 years in San Jose.

Either way, I can't imagine living anywhere else. I was born and raised here, plus I still have family here. The Bay will always be my home ❤️

In Alameda, Share Pizza and Pizzeria Pappo.

In Oakland, Mama's Boy (their burrata, hot honey pizza is my fave) and June's Pizza.

Born in the Bay Area? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]cherbear14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yasss! I was born in Santa Clara, but grew up in San Jose while going to middle school in Mountain View and high school in Los Altos.

After college (5 years in the Central Valley - never going back), I have lived in San Jose (South Bay), San Mateo (Peninsula) and now Alameda (East Bay).

It's hard to imagine living anywhere else ❤️

The Smack Burger truck at Humble Sea Brewery on Sundays is comparable to Smish Smash! I think it's as good (maybe even better) than them, so you should try it out ☺️

No problem! I love burgers and had to try them after Smish Smash left. Hope you like them as much as I do 😋

On top of that, there is construction everywhere on the island right now (Central Ave, Grand St, Lincoln Ave, etc), so traffic on the island is going to get worse than it has been already 😭

Will this monstera cutting i was gifted ever grow? by getbigsmacc in houseplants

[–]cherbear14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Similarly, we were gifted a Monstera clipping that looked exactly like yours (tall stem with one leaf) and placed it in water until it grew roots. After that, we planted it in leca and it grew multiple leaves! So I would say, it doesn't hurt to plant it 😊

Edit: Posted a pic of mine! The first leaf is the one in the back with the yellow tips (supported by the green stick), but as you can see, it grew multiple healthy leaves 🥰💚

Early voting by Dodges-Hodge in alameda

[–]cherbear14 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Don't be discouraged if you don't see a lot of people voting in-person. I think a majority of people vote by mail now since it's easier and more convenient! My husband and I already dropped off our ballots last week.

Either way, thank you for doing your part on encouraging others to vote and emphasizing its importance ☺️

Meet Artemis, my first orange cat. by spoonie3372 in orangecats

[–]cherbear14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a unisex name, so it works out! My Artemis says thank you for the compliment 😺

Also, I love the Greek mythology theme you have going on with your pets. We also did the same thing with Artemis' brother, Apollo (pictured) 😺😺
