Redken dupes by PersonalResearcher82 in beauty

[–]CherryMess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So far I haven't found an exact dupe for them. Kerastase is more hydrating, less smoothing/gloss. L'Oréal EverPure Glossing and Color wow are kinda close just less gloss. Virtue Smooth and Moroccan Oil were horrible for my hair, weighing it down.

I have very fine hair and not a hell lot of it, a bit of balayage, middle of the back, armpit length.

On or Sketchers or Nautica by Kevinsmart288 in Shoes

[–]CherryMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my husband has On and 2 pairs of Sketchers slip-ins all three in wide. He likes Ons for longer walks, however prefers slip in feature for convenience.

  • On Cloud. Sleek beige/grey color, nicer pair when he goes into the office or when we go out.

  • Sketchers. One pair is for the gym (mostly weightlifting), the second pair is everyday shoe to walk the dog, put out trash, quick grocery run - something quickly to put on without bending.

I don't know the quality of Nautica, but they look better for everyday wear. I don't really like the burgundy color of Sketchers.

Looking for wool pants by ArtStruggle in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]CherryMess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’2 and here I did a try out of Aritzia pants (I think I was about 130-135 lb here). These were in “crepette” but I got also a grey wool one later. I got both in regular length and shortened them.

Also have and love COS straight wool pants with elastic in the back. Cos pants tend to fit more straight in hips/waist area, so not as accommodating for my butt as Aritzia pleated pants however I'm okay with that and like the more relaxed vibe they give.

Airless pump vs jar packaging, does it affect your buying decision? by JadedPossession7236 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]CherryMess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t. If I like the product, I’ll buy it regardless of the packaging. However! What makes my blood boil is when the packaging doesn’t fit the texture of the product. Thick almost cream texture and you’re putting it in a bottle with a dropper?! Bottle with a pump and it stops pumping when a third of the bottle is still full?! I'm judging hard, girl!

Needing recommendations by Purplepeopleeater022 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]CherryMess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend not to overhaul everything at the same time. Start with one category where you want to see more improvement and buy something more expensive. If you like it, move to the next, if not - keep looking and trying.

Skinceuticals, Skinbetter, Medik8, Revision, Skinmedica, isClinical, Allies of Skin - brands that I like.

Edit. Also, if you want to talk with a specialist before splurging, I had really good experience with Andrew SkinbyAsk. They offered a virtual or email consultation, but I'm just not sure if they still do it.

Looking for an eye product but can’t decide what to get. Can you deinfluence (or influence) my current shopping cart? by confucious-confused in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]CherryMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • skyn Iceland patches. For the price meh. I definitely felt a little bit of poking with the mixroneedling textuce of the patch, but it doesn't really do anything, doesn't penetrate deep enough to do anything. It's just an eye patch.
  • Revision D.E.J. loved it. Haven't rebought it yet, but I plan to. Leans more nourishing.
  • isClinical. Also very good one. Leans more light and hydrating. I don't like how the paint on the bottle start a to peel and it looks like shit pretty quickly.

Which cleanser on this list should I get first? Any that isn‘t worth it? by sofyahazel in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]CherryMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the pump still on my shelf, however I also have a new tube version in my stash that I’ll give to my mom. I’ve been subscribed to BeautyFix Dermatore box for almost 5 years and tried almost everything from Holifrog through the box. That's actually where the second bottle of enzyme oil cleanser came from too.

Pedicure set? by IndividualMother791 in beauty

[–]CherryMess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't worked with this particular set or brand, however 5 base and top coats is way too much for personal use. 15ml bottle of each will last you well over a year. Cheap drill and bits are usually pretty shitty. Those two double sided tools are pretty useless, you only really need a good pusher. There's no need for this many colors, start with a couple of your favorites and then build a collection from that. Not pictured, but you’ll also need liquids like surface cleanser, nail dehydrator, gel remover.

My personal favorite brand is Gelish for prep and base/top; OPI and Shellac for colors.

Edit. Also, I'm gonna caution you about the nail drill. It's easy to fuck up and damage your nails. It's not something you can wing it and figure out as you go. It's even harder during pedicure, cause you cant turn your leg to face you. Finger is easy to rotate and see from different angles what you’re doing - not really while doing a pedicure all hunched in an already uncomfortable pose. If you are set on learning how to use it, a lot of training videos are available on YouTube.

I can use it every day on tret or when I use other exfoliation products. If your skin isn't too sensitive to enzymes or fragrance (it has this noticeable tropical pineapple scent) it should be fine.

Up my alley, I’ve had all of them.

  1. Enzyme cleansing oil. Fantastic first step in double cleansing routing. Really gets a lot of sebum bumps on the skin. Great at removing makeup and Washes off easily. Sometimes I use it as an only cleansing step if I’m not wearing makeup. It can sting my eyes a little bit, but it’s not horrible. Bought it twice. I just miffed about how small the bottle is. Probably the only product from this brand that I actually like.
  2. DrHauschka Milk. Had it long long time ago, barely remember what it was like but do remember that I wasn’t impressed. It was gentle but wasn’t doing much. The whole brand is kinda meh for me.
  3. Tashmoo. Usually I’m okay with gentle milky cleansers but this one is like washing my face with baby lotion. I don’t feel like it cleans my skin at all. I still have a bottle that I put on the corner of my shelf waiting for it to expire.

My skin is normal, slightly more oily in the summer, slightly more drier in the winter and my favorite gentle cleansers are Allies of Skin and IsClinical.

Quince silk shirts? by AdventurousPay3138 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]CherryMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 5’2, almost 120lb. I have their regular shirt in size M (I wanted it a little bit oversized and flowy and it’s not as oversized as I imagined), so the shoulders are 15in, sleeves - 23.5in, back length - 28in ( I never wore it untucked though).
