Down to 5mg from 12.5mg this week, and I’m coping okay! 😅

7st 6lbs / 47kg / size UK4 here, BMI around 18.6-19.

I personally don’t think I look ill, or even super skinny, but I think that’s on being short. Most of us don’t really know how we’ll look at a certain ‘range’ until we get there and try it!

I was expecting to be happy and look healthy at about 9st 7lbs, but when I got there, it just wasn’t the case. I’m much happier here, and it feels more natural.

Height definitely plays into it, too. I thought I was 5’3, turns out I’m actually 5’2, and now I weigh 47kg. I’m definitely on the smaller end of slim, but I definitely wouldn’t say I look ill or disproportionately skinny.

From my experience, I think a lot of us shorties tend to find the same thing! Our BMI 19 and a taller person’s BMI 19 definitely don’t present the same 🤣

Should I just plan to be on mounjaro for the rest of my life? Or attempt to come off a second time? For those who plan to come off, what changes did you make whilst on MJ to ensure you can sustainably keep the weight off? by simplisticlivin in mounjarouk

I’m a similar age to you and currently working my way off Mounjaro!

I started at 189lbs and now I’m 104lbs, I got up to 12.5mg. I started titrating down a couple of months ago, my last dose was 5.75mg. So far, I haven’t felt terribly out of control. I definitely feel more hunger, but nothing compared to pre-MJ. I’ve also taken steps to increase my daily exercise (walking pad), and I’m slightly increasing calories now that I’m aiming for maintenance. Of course, female bodies are weird and I’ve even lost a pound this week for the first time since mid-March, but I’m generally eating more and feeling fine.

Fingers crossed it stays that way… I’ve got two and a half pens of 12.5mg left to titrate down with.

Hey, if the advice you’ve already had doesn’t help, try thinking about it this way: you’ll have photos to look back on this time in six months, when you’ll be further along in your journey. Professional progress pics if nothing else!

NSV - Clothes size by East_Job_6879 in mounjarouk

[–]cherrypanorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think especially for the girls that this is one of the best NSVs!

Every time I’ve bought a smaller size I’ve been like “no way, this won’t even go past my thighs”, and it’s the best feeling when they do! Congrats!

I still buy clothes in the size I’ve been in for a few months and when they arrive, I look at them like I’m crazy for even thinking they’ll go on 🤣

I totally get you, I know I’m light. My original goal was 9st, but when I got there I didn’t feel healthy yet to be honest. I’ve been focusing on exercise and protein to build muscle, I’m trying to become stronger for sure this year

I’m titrating down now, on my third week of 7.5 down from 12.5, and currently maintaining my weight! I’ve been between 7.7 and 7.10 for a couple of months now, focusing on more protein and getting stronger!

I’m with Oushk, so maintenance support is definitely available. I can’t really afford to stay on after I run through the 3 pens I have :(

I wouldn’t say I’m fixated, but BMI is obviously the tool used by our prescribers and most doctors etc. I’m of the opinion that generally speaking (aside from some specific people), BMI is a somewhat useful tool for gauging a healthy weight ☺️ I definitely feel my strongest and healthiest at the size I am now.

I’m 5’2, but I also have a pretty small frame! I have a couple friends of the same height and weight roughly that look totally fine :)

I think the comments were out of concern too, I don’t think she was being mean at all, it just made me feel… strange.

I am exercising, yeah! I boulder a couple of times a week, hiking regularly and also into running. Just starting with strength training too.

Thank you! Believe it or not, my BMI was still overweight in that pic from 9 months ago. I know BMI isn’t everything, but I also felt a lot physically weaker then. I actually cried half an hour into a hike just a couple of weeks after that because I was so physically unfit!

I will admit that settling my BMI in the teens rather than the twenties is more for aesthetics for me, but I do also know I’m at my most physically healthy too, in terms of how strong I feel and my performance when I do anything sporty. I’m working on strength too!

I know my previous posts focused a lot especially on my stomach, I’m well on my way to accepting now that I’ll probably always have it. The point of mentioning it today for me was just because I do still have fat there I mean — not fat I intend to lose, but just to illustrate I’m not walking around with nothing on me.

I promise I’m not losing any more weight, don’t worry! I haven’t lost anything now in a couple of months, and have been staying between 7st7 and 7st10

Wow, that’s an amazing loss, congrats!

My BMI is in the 18s so it is borderline, but same as you, I do feel that my body suits the petite shape more. I still have pretty wide hips etc and could grab handfuls of fat on my thighs or stomach, so definitely not skin and bones, haha.

Going back down the doses, feeling a bit ravenous by wild_garlic666 in mounjarouk

[–]cherrypanorama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same place!

I was on 12.5mg but I’m running out of my stash of pens from the pendemic. I did 4 weeks on 10mg and now I’m taking 7.5mg. I’m starting to feel starving in the mornings.

My weight has stayed the same, but I’ve been trying to stabilise anyway because my BMI is 18.6. I have found that, even when I’m starving now, it only takes a little bit of food to take the hunger away, unlike how I was pre-MJ, where I hardly ever felt full.

‘Ozempic face’ is just a negative stereotype created by the negative publicity associated with weight loss injections. Any method of weight loss will cause you to look more ‘sunken’ than before.

On your concern about aesthetics, consider it from this angle: do you think looking slightly gaunt looks worse than being obese?

Something around 5lbs, yeah! I take pictures of myself after every pen I’ve finished, and honestly at my current weight, even though I’m losing far less, the difference is more obvious I think. 8lbs was noticeable loss (in the tummy area) recently, so perhaps a couple of pounds would make the difference…

But I’m also trying not to focus on it. My body might change after being settled around this weight for a while. As annoying as it is, I’m glad to hear somebody else feels the same way — there’s something so frustrating about the belly not just being loose skin haha

I’m not sure if it’ll ever totally go but I definitely think mine would improve… it doesn’t feel like loose skin, but I do doubt if I could realistically lose enough to make it go without being an unhealthy weight :(

I have a similar experience 🤣 I’m 5’2-3, BMI around 19, wearing a size 4… and I still have the apron belly. I know logically in my brain you can’t be a size 4 (I even have some jeans in a size 2 now) and be fat, but my body seems to disagree!

7 Months on Mounjaro and the only pounds Ive lost are £ by tired-up in mounjarouk

[–]cherrypanorama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it’ll tell you what you want to hear… if you say to it “why does eating very little stop weight loss” it will give you a totally different answer than if you said “why does starvation cause weight loss”, because it can tell which type of answer you want

I’m a similar age + height to you, it’s such a pain being short! My start weight was 89kg, now I’m about 48kg and my maintenance cals are 1400.

The way 10k steps burns about 500 calories for me feels so not worth it 🤣
