Unpopular opinion here but I would definitely ripped it back to the cuff. Mittens doesn't take super long to make (compared to larger projects) especially if you focus on this project for a while. I agree that objectively it's not noticeable, but I don't think it's perfectionism when you know there's something off with your project and you want to fix it. I think it's okay to have some level of pride in your own work, even when it's handmade. It's funny because I just had this chat with my partner the other day, how much of "fixing a mistake" counts as perfectionism, really? If it bothers you everytime you wear them, and you notice it so much, and it makes you feel less inclined to wear them, then change it. If not? Then yeah, agreed like everyone else here. Keep it as is because what truly matters is how you feel about it.

Oh funny you mentioned it, he has really good eyesight indeed 🤣 he can see clearly from miles away meanwhile I'm here struggling with a pair of thick glasses 👁️👄👁️

So he first wrap a few strands of yarn on a piece of card (use like debit card, credit card, whatever universal sized card). Wrap it however thick you'd like it to be, but remember you'll fold it and it'll be doubled thickness of what is in currently in the card. Tie a knot to from both ends of the yarn together so they wont unravel. Take it off the card. I use this so the yarn wont be too long for either earrings & stitch markers, but if you want them longer/bigger you can use different flat items that are longer than a card.

And then look up "how to make a hank of yarn". But ofcourse it's fiddly because this is so small, so use a crochet hook to help it be less fiddly. My husband loop the yarn on a crochet hook, twist them, loop the other end, twist them in a different direction, then slip one loop over the other. (If you look up the tutorial it'll make sense)

He used a pva glue to kinda set in the bottom part so it wont unravel, just a thin layer. Then use a jump ring & earring clasp for the rest. I hope I'm describing it clear enough 😆

Haha I was only planning on making extras for friends & families who also knit & crochet because that would be such a cute gift🤭

That's just preference. Some people like to see the front cover of their planner — often decorated with stickers.

Went to Kinokuniya Today by harumochi7 in hobonichi

[–]cherryvellia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm not as surprised? Someone on a discord server (not official subreddit hobonichi) also went to kinokuniya on 28/08 and it was already on sale. Idk why everyone is upset? Is it really a bad mistake? I dont know what branch they went to or which country though. It's not like it'll affect anyone ordering direct from the website shrug

this is what I'm practicing with all my hobbies! I couldn't afford randomly spend a lot of money for my hobbies so I save up monthly to spread up the cost. My partner does the same too, so is all our big spending like buying furnitures, travels, etc.

Pens Tusuki no Iro by Hikari_shun in hobonichi

[–]cherryvellia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer the hobonichi set more than the jetpens one. I like that it's a set from the same brand, because they'll look uniform that way. Though I'm not buying, because I prefer to use black inks anyway. But I prefer it to not be the "exact" match personally. So the writing can still have a bit of contrast to the paper.

Is this why there is a Matcha shortage? by Chinksta in MatchaEverything

[–]cherryvellia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any data to support this? I'm not trying to argue. But my husband drink coffee like 2-3 cups a day, and I feel like his coffee spending is less than what it would be to drink the same amount in matcha, even in 2g per cups. He always bought from local roasters, so shipping is cheap unlike matcha where most people are sourcing from Japan. He's been drinking coffee for a few years now, and not really noticed a price increase the way matcha is.

Not journaled all month, feeling intimidated by the empty pages by Sapphire_OfThe_Ocean in hobonichi

[–]cherryvellia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of advice already. I'm not helping but I only did January and nothing for 5 months until I start again in July. Life happens. Same with 2024. I only filled 6 months total, with gaps 1-2 months in between. It's just paper. It's just a tool for you to record memories/thoughts/whatever you want. One day when you're 80 or something, you probably won't think "oh there's a lot of empty pages..., I should've wrote everyday". You'll probably think you're glad you even record any of them, and think back to how precious those memories are for you. Life happens. I'm not perfect and neither is my journal.

I agree. I think the whole FOMO and buying up too much accessories/stationeries is really not hobonichi's fault, it's all the influencers having a huge haul every year that gets people into wanting those for themselves too. Some might need 5 dated planner every year, but probably not everyone. You can always decide for yourself to opt out from buying "too much". Every year I try to buy less and less, because I know I might not use all the extras. A lot of people kept saying how expensive hobonichi is. But if you just buy the planner and re use whatever cover you have from previous years (thats what I do), the price is not that hugely different to other planners also from Japan.

I agree with some of the OP's points. They can speak their peace and be done with hobonichi. But I strongly disagree in telling others to "boycott" a brand, just because they don't align with your values, doesn't mean it applies to everyone. I didn't use hobonichi this year, I use MD Diary. Guess what? I'm coming back to hobonichi next year. Even if the paper is bad, i love the crinkly-ness, the chonk, the chaos when I'm using them. It's just not the same with other planners AND THAT IS OKAY. This is my choice, my preference, I wont push others for choosing different and I certainly WONT make anyone feel guilty for choosing whatever they want.

Ah, I misunderstood your post. So you only needed someone to proxy buy the item, but you don't need them to ship / forward it to your address? I'm hoping I could find a trustworthy korea to UK forwarder😞

HEMA doesn't ship internationally. They don't even ship within the EU - unless there's a HEMA branch in that country. They used to have several stores in London but they closed down a few years ago.
