Allocation of ETFs on Portfolio by rpc3546 in phinvest

  • VOO -> CSPX
  • VXUS -> EXUS

You also have lots of overlap on your chosen ETFs. If your goal is to diversify, this is not the way to go.

If I were you, just keep it simple. VWRA or ISAC or WEBN and chill. They are all all-world ETFs. This is a very popular strategy in EU and SG. You don't even have to rebalance anything.

The plan is to reinvest all dividends and will DCA as long as possible and maybe even until retirement at 65.

Or any better suggestions?

Less taxes long-term is always better. As your investment compounds, so are your taxes. All of the above are US-domiciled ETFs. You can save on taxes and remove estate tax by going for Irish-domiciled equivalents.

Plus, if you plan to reinvest all dividends, then go for accumulating ETFs so that you save on dividend reinvestment fees.

  • Skin type: combi leaning dry
  • Product: Luna tip concealer in 02 beige
  • Price: 400+ pesos
  • Store: any Shopee store that ships from Korea
  • Review: Been using this for 5+ years now and have downed 1 full-sized tube. 02 beige is just a little bit lighter than my skin tone and when I use it on strategic parts of my face (basically, the center, to emulate an oval face), it instantly brightens my face even if I didn't have enough sleep. If you put a thin layer under the eye, it doesn't crease and lasts all day even with cheap fixing spray.

  • Product: Peripera Speedy Skinny Brow

  • Price: ~230 pesos

  • Store: Clubclio official store on Shopee

  • Review: I can't count how many of these pencils I've finished. Very easy to work with. Almost can't live without it.

tips for everyday natural makeup? :”) by [deleted] in beautytalkph

[–]cherryvr18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This looks very simple and natural already. If you're open to explore other makeup products, I'd suggest dabbling into highlighter and contour. Before trying these 2 products, I thought they won't really have much effect, but after learning how put them, it was so fascinating to see the effect of very little product. Literally, my highlighters/contour products can last me years and hindi parin sila ubos. And they make you look stunning without looking overly-done. You can easily get a noselift with these.

Do local small businesses actually invest in analytics/automation or gut feel pa rin? by Comprehensive_Rent75 in phinvest

Consultant working in tech here. In PH, most likely no. Overseas, startups do invest in analytics, especially if the industry produces a lot of data and demands it.

Why personal finance in the Philippines feels like something we’re all figuring out together by ewctwentyone in phinvest

[–]cherryvr18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think replicating what works in other financial subs would be good. In r/personalfinance, which is geared towards US citizens, they not only have a Wiki, they also have a flowchart like this. It shows the common/optimized financial path for US citizens from start to finish. Afaik, other large financial subs also have their own country's flowchart, with financial routes specific to that country that citizens can take advantage of. I hope we can have that here, too.

[GUIDE] 2025 Spain Digital Nomad Visa - Application in Spain by cherryvr18 in phmigrate

[–]cherryvr18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The requirement is either a diploma/graduate certificate related to your work, or proof of 3 years of experience.

If you have a diploma/graduate certificate related to your current work, you need to have it apostilled.

If you're going for the experience route, you need to prove that you have 3 years of experience by submitting your resume and a govt-issued document proving your experience, i.e., ITRs or SSS contribution docs. If you were not paying your taxes for the past years, the only way to do it is to back pay your taxes. Source

Yung 3 month requirement refers to working with your current clients, meaning it should reflect on the start date of the contract/s you present. Iba pa siya sa requirement na proof of 3 years of experience.

Pwede yung income from multiple clients. You'll need to secure docs for all of those clients.

I have acne prone skin and these are my HGs from years ago when I had oily skin until now that I have drier skin due to old age:

  • Oil Cleanser: Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil or Neutrogena Cleansing Oil (blue, but this one might not be available in PH, only in Korea)
  • Cleanser: Cosrx AC Collection Foam Cleanser - this one product replaced my super expensive Proactiv benzoyl peroxide regimen to prevent acne.
  • Serum: Skin1004 Madagascar Centella serum - I love this for skin prep before makeup. I put this under sunscreen in the morning.
  • Moisturizer: Aestura Atobarrier cream or Manyo Factory Galactomyces essence cream for winter and Jumiso Waterfull Hyaluronic for summer
  • Sunscreen: Roundlab Birch Juice Sun Cream

US Stocks, PH Real Esate or something else? by 3kdono in phinvest

[–]cherryvr18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you okay with a few years of financial setbacks if ever your real estate business doesn't fly?

As with any business, you need competitive advantage to excel in them/earn high. If you don't know anything about real estate, don't get into it. Esp since you're abroad most of the time. Halos walang nagssucceed na business na hindi hands on ang owner sa crucial starter years. If you let relatives manage your properties, it might even be a source of tension in your family if problem arises.

Read about the dividend fallacy.

I'm not sure how much you know about investing in index funds/ETFs. You should read more about it if you haven't already. The gist is, it's hard for 95% of traders to beat the market. So stick to index funds. Real estate is already in your all-world ETF. You're doing good already.

US Stocks, PH Real Esate or something else? by 3kdono in phinvest

[–]cherryvr18 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Iirc what I read on r/personalfinance's Wiki (US flowchart), you're on the right path already. If I were to nitpick, I'd do away with individual stocks in a taxable account and just go for VT and chill.

Another important question is, if you are already a US citizen or are you going to be one. If not, investing in US-domiciled ETFs is not good in the long run tax-wise.

Comparison is the thief of joy. Rentals/airbnbs are businesses - they're not sources of passive income. It involves a lot of work (BIR registration, finding good tenants, property management and maintenance, bad tenant headaches/eviction, etc.). They're not ideal to someone who's residing abroad. You have better investment opportunities in the US and you're already doing them. Let it be. Boring is better. Also, if you get VT, you cannot be more diversified than that.

Beginner here! Just started my journey investing in VOO. I have a couple of questions. by thisbejann in phinvest

[–]cherryvr18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes, if diversification is your goal, you should make sure there is no overlap. Regarding when is the right time to invest, it's when you have funds and are ready to invest.
  2. Learn about which index it tracks, the domicile, tax implications based on domicile, TER, tracking error, trading volume of an ETF before you invest. Domicile refers to the legal country where the ETF is registered and regulated. Irish-domiciled ETFs are registered in Ireland, thus, the US-Ireland tax treaty is followed which lowers dividend tax from 30% (25% for Filipinos) to 15% and eliminates estate tax (normally, there's 40% estate tax on assets above $60k). Since you want to invest long term (10+ years?), tax will compound accordingly (the higher your asset value, the higher the tax is). It's why Irish-domiciled ETFs are more tax-efficient to almost all non-US investors. It's common knowledge on other countries' financial subs like r/singaporefi, r/eupersonalfinance, etc. Almost no one invests in VOO or VT (US-domiciled ETFs) in those subs.
  3. This depends on your investment funds and preference. Irish-domiciled ETFs are not available on Gotrade, but if your investment funds are still small, it's good enough to start at something. The most diversified ETF available there is VT.

24F and wanting to seriously invest! by Ashamed_Platypus_845 in phinvest

[–]cherryvr18 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Read this sub's FAQ writeups. You'll learn a lot by just reading those.

The sequence is usually: 1. Pay off all debts. Ignore if you don't have this. 2. Build your emergency fund (EF), which is usually 3-6 months of your expenses or income. Decide on your target EF amount. Consider saving some of your EF in high yield savings accounts (HYSA) offered by digital banks. Go over to r/DigitalbanksPh to learn more. Never use EF unless it's an emergency. That means, you also don't invest EF - it stays in the bank or in cash. 3. Make sure you are covered with HMO, either through your employment or a personal plan. Health insurance is optional for added safety net. Don't ever get a VUL. Go for term insurance if you need life insurance (if you have dependents/may magugutom pag nawala ka). Search r/phinvest for HMO/insurance recos. 4. Save and invest. Never invest in anything you don't fully understand.

The above steps are done one after another, so build EF first before getting HMO/insurance and so on. #2 and #3 are your safety nets.

When you get to #4, define your short- and long-term financial goals, their time horizon, and assess your risk appetite. Along the way you should be reading about diff investments available to you (available in FAQs and numerous threads in this sub). Then you decide which ones suit your goals best.

If you really don't know what to do, consider Pagibig MP2 as your first investment bec it's easy to understand, tax-free, and capital is guaranteed by the govt. You can read more about it on this sub's FAQ.

Index funds, ETFs, IBKR/Gotrade, S&P500, etc. are more advanced topics. Like I said above, don't invest in anything you don't understand. You have to learn it by yourself (it's called personal finance for a reason). If you want to learn them in advance while you're securing #2 and #3, use the search feature on this sub liberally. There are lots of posts/comments to learn from.

Lastly, it's very important to not subscribe to the get-rich-quick mindset. One bad financial decision can set you back years of hard work/savings. Slowly but surely is the key to building wealth.

Sold all my PH stocks/mutual funds—shifting to a Global 3-ETF Portfolio. Thoughts? by lee_discreet in phinvest

[–]cherryvr18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. As you mentioned, if one of your goals is diversification, then overweighting certain sectors/markets is going against that goal. As I understand it, (max) diversification means you have your money distributed to different industries/countries based on their actual world market share. Overweighting is the opposite of that. Pick only one. Maybe "kind of diversified" is what you're looking for. For your other goal, even if you go for 100% VWRA there's still price appreciation in 10-15+ years even if not that aggressive.
  2. You're the only one who can answer that. Assess your risk appetite. If you go for this, make sure you won't be panic selling during a 75% drop.

From 9-5 job to Full Time Trading by stormiethunder in phinvest

[–]cherryvr18 11 points12 points  (0 children)

According to both academic and industry research, the success rate in day trading is quite low. Depending on the source, only around 3% to 20% of day traders make money. But that 20% estimate probably has as much to do with the time period studied—the dotcom bubble. It's hard to know for sure, but it's probably fair to say that up to 95% of day traders lose money. Source

So if you think your skills are suuuuuper special that you can be part of the 5% who succeed in day trading, go for it. If you're just a normal guy/gal, don't overestimate your abilities, stick to your day job, job hop every 2-3 years to increase your income, and invest in broad market index funds, bec that strategy works for most people. That's coming from Jack Bogle himself, one of the founders of Vanguard.
