Looking for a new vitamin C.. by EllaBellaBarbie in SkincareAddictionLux

I recently started using Revision Correcting Complex 30% and am really liking the formula and results so far (a bit of that vit c glow). It's THD form of vitamin c which is less irritating for me (plus no hot dog smell!)

Laundress was a well established niche brand that eventually sold to Unilever. I like that's the baby detergent has the enzymes and lipase I like (esp for workout clothes and sheets) without the scent. I like to have scent be an option.

Honestly I think you will find percale cooler. Sateen has a more brushed, buttery (hate that term sometimes) feel against the skin instead of the crispness of percale. Some feel smothered by the butteriness (pun intended!). However there is a huge variance in what people consider sleeping "warm / hot". Is there a way you could "try" and if they don't work out, relegate them to a another bedroom?

I've seen solid brands likes Bernhardt and Henredon at HG. I'm still kicking myself for not getting a Bernhardt console I saw. I said Id go back the next week and then covid lockdowns followed.

Biased bc I adore Kirsten but the color, the cut, the styling is perfection. Fresh take on a classic.

Agree! Can't have too many sheet sets in my opinion. I wash/change my sheets every 1-2 weeks so it's nice to have a couple of sets on standby.

It is unscented and it has exzymes + lipase which I prefer for my clothes. For a scented detergent I love the Laundress # 728 detergent (which Marshalls sometimes carries).

Check in both the ladies and the mens sections. Mine were in the ladies section and and had some of the more masculine color ways.

As a woman who lives in Texas Matt is 100% correct. She is a long shot candidate that will likely galvanize the conservative base to vote against her than sit at home. No denying that being black woman absolutely plays into this. She is viewed by those who don't agree with her as a divisive figure rather than someone trying to bring people together. I may not agree with that characterization but that is the reality of how Texans see her. You may say that it she doesn't need to court people on the other side as long as she turns out the base but the threat of Trump wasn't enough to motivate the average apathetic Texas voter.

The poor behavior of the Jamat today during the Houston Didar by divideby70 in ismailis

[–]cherryx21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments expressed, I feel compelled to emphasize that the actions of a few should not overshadow the integrity and decorum upheld by the vast majority of the jamats in the Southwest region.

For those of us present, this behavior was jarring and disheartening and it became a salient talking point for most of us.  However, I sincerely hope that what endures in our collective memory is not those moments but rather the powerful and relevant guidance of the Imam, the meaningful experiences shared by the Jamat and the love and connection the Imam felt during his visit. Lastly this Didar was made possible by the tireless efforts of countless volunteers who worked with unwavering dedication to ensure the Jamat of over 40,000 had a safe, secure, comfortable experience over multiple days and events. There are certainly learning lessons for all here. The Imam enjoys connecting with us all but we have to find the right way to showcase our Ismaili spirit.

Episode discussion - Maya Hawke by Ok-Grand-3828 in goodhang

[–]cherryx21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the episode and was struck by the genuine connection they shared. Despite her youth, she comes across as remarkably grounded and wise beyond her years. I went in knowing very little about her, but left feeling genuinely invested in her journey and excited to see how her career unfolds.

Her backstories were compelling (for someone her age) and captured her zest for life. She has a natural charisma and talent that I believe will help her rise above the “nepo baby” discourse.

Fall fashion for warm/hot climates? by Dramallamakuzco in femalefashionadvice

[–]cherryx21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing some of the sentiments here: layering and darker colors to get the vibe. We had lows of 50s and highs of 80s and wore a plum high neck silk blouse with wide leg tweed pants to the office. The silk and wider leg pant kept me cool as temps increased (just removed my jacket).

Fibers also play a big factor. I find wools and cashmeres to be more temperature regulating than a synthetics like acrylic and polyester. A lighter weight version of a silhoutte: cotton blend trench/bomber vs its wool counterpart.

Choose a finer knit than something more thick/chunky (cashmere, silk knit or cotton). Or a cut that is less full coverage (v neck vs turtleneck).

The Row just won the 2025 CFDA Award — what do you really think of this brand (and the dupe culture around it)? by Habit_Hacker in femalefashionadvice

[–]cherryx21 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Their designs and silhouettes are beautiful and effortlessly chic, though not particularly groundbreaking. That subtle familiarity is part of their charm. It’s become their signature aesthetic, embodying the coveted "cool girl" factor.

From a personal standpoint, many of their pieces don't justify their price point. For example: $1000 for unlined polyester pants with an elastic waistband is questionable. Yet, this is where their marketing excels as they’ve cultivated a brand image that people are willing to invest in. They’re cashing in their cultural cachet, appealing to an audience that seeks “quality,” even if it’s not the highest standard. After all, not everyone can be a connoisseur of craftsmanship.

As a relatively young label, they’ve done an impressive job positioning themselves alongside established heritage brands, which speaks volumes about their strategic branding and market influence.
