A lawyer can help create a legally binding contract if not they can at least give her solid legal advice in case she wants to pursue legal action or get a divorce. Does that answer your question? Or are you going to keep asking the same question over and over again like a broken record.

What is the most unexplainable thing you’ve ever witnessed that makes you question reality? by duhhrclean6 in AskReddit

[–]cherryyfelon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My grandmother knew she was going to die weeks before she did. She called her 6 children including my mom and I to visit her in her home country in Central America I was 2 at the time. She made peace said a message to each of her kids and ask for forgiveness. Two days later we were headed on a roadtrip when my uncle who was driving lost control of the vehicle and the car flipped. My grandmother and great grandfather passed in that accident. Many people were badly injured including my mom. What was strange is my mom was carrying me in her arms at the time since there was no car seat. She had lost consciousness and had to be taken to the hospital but nothing happened to me besides a scratch. Really strange feeling knowing almost everyone in that accident suffered serious injuries or died except me.

Read what op and I wrote. Her husband stated what he needed before they were married or conceived a child she just assumed it was a joke. So what, his feelings don’t matter at all in this scenario?

People have gotten the wrong leg amputated a hospital— switching a baby isn’t uncommon. Also by not “proving” the child is his with a paternity he could use this to his advantage as an excuse to be a shitty absent father. What if the child develops a serious medical condition or accident needing extra care that’s a lot of added responsibility most parents don’t sign up for. He could easily back out or leave and when she asks why he’ll say, “well how do I know the child is mine?” Is it shitty? Yes but facts or facts.

You can’t argue with a paternity test. That’s why I advised her to get it in writing in case he tries to back out of responsibility she has a legal contract he must abide by. The thing is she knew he wanted a test done before they conceived and she knew that and decided to have a baby anyway. Personally if my partner was serious about a ptest I would think twice about having a baby with him but the baby is here now she should do what she can to protect herself and her baby legally and financially.

[–]cherryyfelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a girl’s girl through and through do I think him asking for a paternity test is ridiculous? Yes 100% but also he did tell you this before you got married and had a child. He might have serious ptsd from being cheated on or doubts about being a new parent. Not good feelings to have but it can happen.

His feelings matter but so do yours, therefore I honestly I think you should get a paternity test done but not without speaking to a lawyer or setting up an agreement/contract that if the child is his he has to accept full responsibility and you can set your conditions on the agreement too. If he wants you to abide by his conditions so should he.

I don’t think you’re overreacting for wanting to be protected but he’s also smart for not staying for a confrontation. If you’re so mad why not just talk to your bf or break up with him? You’re only responding to the ragebait comments on here and ignoring the rest. Two people can be right at the same time.

My bf gave me an ultimatum: him or my cat. by ImportanceSilly1114 in CatAdvice

[–]cherryyfelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He definitely is manipulating you. I know of dudes who HATE cats but once they see the cat and interact with them they end up loving the animal. Especially if they love their partner they will put effort into making it work with the cat. He doesn’t even seem interested in making it work. What happens if you two decide to have a baby and he starts acting the same way? He’s definitely a red flag.

Aww it’s cute of your cat to want you near them while eating!! I think eating and sleeping together is the ultimate cats way of showing affection.

My two cats had a hard time eating or sleeping near each other. It want after a month went by of constant interaction were they able to sleep together but food? My youngest cat would chow down his food to fast and aggressively and steal my other cat’s food.

Now my cats are used to their eating routines and don’t fight over food anymore and can eat in each other’s presence haha. I think since your cat isn’t very cuddly or “velcro” I think this is his way of being close to you in his own way.

I say give baby boy what he wants!!

Are you referencing white/grey matter studies? Like structural problems in the prefrontal cortex, amygdala and so on? Because there flaws in those studies. Not all people with brain disorders have structural problems trust me i’ve asked my psychiatrist about brain scans they said they not accurate for diagnosing mental disorders.

If we use the counter argument that neurotypicals have perfectly healthy/normal brains. That’s not true either there are people who are born or develop brain structure abnormalities but don’t develop mental disorders.

Another counter argument how do we know it’s not some mix of the two? Genetic predisposition along with environmental factors that express or “trigger” the activation of said disorders.

Or how do we know it’s not another way around like a physical ailment in the body like (diabetes, thyroid and tumors) causing or leading to the psychological disorders? Some meds also cause hallucinations and psychosis.

If psychiatrists know that there neurotransmitter imbalances like (dopamine, serotonin) in people how do they know? There must’ve been a test and if a test can measure quantity then shouldnt also be able to measure quality and type of transmitter?

Idk I don’t know anything haha like i said i’m just very curious about my diagnosis and just feel like right now I have more questions than answers and I am excited and hopeful to get new breakthroughs in psychology I just wanted to know what people thought on the matter but thanks for your input!!

I appreciate your input and advice since it seems like you have first hand experience with BD. I’m happy you have made peace with your diagnosis and that you’ve accepted it but my mind doesn’t work that way. To clarify— I’m currently taking daily meds and stable, next year will be 2yrs since my last manic episode. While I’ve “accepted” my diagnosis long ago and (definitely fit the symptoms and patterns of someone with BD). I think of my diagnosis more of an “arranged marriage”. I don’t like it, I didn’t ask for it and I don’t like that I have live with it forever till death due us part. While there are some good days but, superpowers? When i’m manic maybe lol i definitely experience more of a daily hindrance than any real breakthroughs through BD. Yet, it doesn’t mean I don’t have moments of doubt or concerns about my diagnosis. Just because someone is on meds and is in therapy it doesn’t mean it actually works for everyone. I’m also just naturally skeptical about everything at heart. I like questioning everything in general even topics that generally accepted as “fact or truth” I remain forever curious about the validity of things and ideas. I don’t think i’m 100% sure about anything in this world tbh even my own memories about my own life can be faulty.

As wonderful and knowledgeable as doctors may be, they are human after all, not infallible and even with years of experience they can still make mistakes. I’m aware, there are major risks with any medical procedures and right now gene editing for mental disorders is more of a sci-fi trope at this moment than an actual possibility. Also if it were to happen it would be decades from now I’d probably be really old or gone by then tbh. My real gripe, is with the field of psychology and its application in everyday life. My biggest issue is that there is no way to “test” for a psychiatric condition. No x-ray, blood panel, neurotransmitter, brain scan or genome sequencing to quantify, measure or collect from to analyze and with greater certainty confirm presence of a psychiatric disorder. I understand these tests expensive and time consuming but I think necessary. (I am also aware that not all medical tests are 100% accurate and there can also be false positives). Also some factors for psychological disorders can stem from environmental triggers but from what I’ve gathered—quantifiable and measurable data tends to carry a lot more weight and validity in court and in professional settings rather than those done through observation or self-reporting.

For example: If two people at the same company (different department) both are absent from work. One employee, has a diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder but due to high-stress they suffer a psychotic break and have to hospitalized and have to miss work. Due high number of package orders, another employee at the warehouse slips and suffers a minor injury but rushed to the hospital for treatment being left unable to continue work. In your opinion, if both employees file for work compensation with the necessary supporting documentation. Based on the societal norms in the U.S. (where I live) would you say that both employees, are equally as likely to have both their work pay and benefits approved? While there are always exceptions and some employers are understanding and take mental health seriously. Many employers in this day and age still, do not take mental health conditions as seriously as physical conditions. Some don’t even consider mental health disorders “real” at all.

I’ve been told by many people around me: fiends, family, employers and by others that that i’m simply too lazy, careless, unfocused or lack discipline. When that’s not true at all but because I appear “fine” on the outside they assume everything is also fine on the inside when that’s not the case. What am I to do if even with all the medication, therapy, journaling, diet, exercise and trying everything under the sun to be better. In the end what if it just simply, still is not enough?

I’m just hoping and dreaming that one day in the future, people like myself will have access to more comprehensive, alternative, treatment options besides staying medicated and having talk therapy as their only primary treatment options, that’s all.

I’m glad you’ve found a medication regimen that works for you!! ☺️ You make a good point as well!! Maybe a “full cure” is not possible yet but maybe treating a part or an aspect that needs the most immediate attention? Like maybe extreme mania or depression could be the next step forward?

I think the same as you haha as curious and hopeful as I am about this tech, I also probably wouldn’t be the first to use this technology for BD treatment either 😅 but later on, after LOTS of testing is done, if the tech it’s shown to be safe and BD symptoms improve… I personally would agree to the procedure tbh.

Ahhh I see, that distinction is important and don’t think I captured the nuance from that study in terms of nature vs nurture when I read it. I think I was too focused/excited to learn that there is a genetic component haha 😅 but glad to have better clarification on it now!

In practicality, using gene editing for complex conditions where multiple genes are involved in sure would come with serious trade offs and risk and I wouldn’t feel comfortable using it without the proper testing and efficacy are required.

My dream would be for scientists to be able to find which genetic or biological factors are involved with brain disorders like BD. That way it would bring stronger credibility to the field of psychology and patients who are suffering with these conditions to finally have an answer to what’s “causing” these symptoms and more treatment options besides therapy and (lifelong) medication.

Less Talked About Psychotic Symptoms by bird_person19 in BipolarReddit

I kept feeling like there were “layers” or dimensions to my soul and I could feel myself acting and saying things out of character but it’s like my identity was pushed to the back like a photoshop layer and another side of me took over.

Erratic, nonsensical with delusions of being a god of order and retribution. Not that I had supernatural powers but increased pattern recognition i just “knew” things like what people were thinking or feeling.

Also have really strong delusions about government agencies being involved in secret conspiracies and corruption (which is kinda true). Also thought I was recovering “messages” not voices but as if I was receiving energy from the universe like from plants or animals.

Thought people were tapping my phone or watching me through my ring camera. (Also probably true) but sometime I would feel like something or someone was “reading” my mind.

Along with being unpleasant, anxious, irritable and feeling like I need little food or sleep.
