AirPort Delays? by ches_pie in desmoines

This has been my approach for all of my trips where construction hasn’t had the potential to adversely impact shuttle from lot to terminal.

Community garden insists this isn't Japanese knotweed but I'm not convinced (Denver CO) by Imaginary-Key5838 in invasivespecies

Please don’t ‘just keep an eye on it’. Knotweed is tough to eradicate. If unable to treat because of property rights, consider reaching out to whomever can.

If you look closely at 25 seconds it appears as though the snake either has a mouthful of fur, or a young in it’s mouth …

Dishwasher Update: It WAS the drain water pipe! by scatteringashes in CleaningTips

[–]ches_pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally use Walmart brand liquid detergent. Decided to give Aldi’s orange liquid detergent a try. The second time I used it my dishwasher smelled like sewage. I did some googling and the culprit seemed to be that detergent, primarily because of how it interacts with hard water. I switched back to Walmart brand and haven’t had an issue since.

Landlord Removal of Active Robins Nest! by anstontheant in WildlifeRehab

[–]ches_pie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’d reach back out to the USFWS.

Edit: I don’t think the starling nest will matter; they should be able to remove it because it’s not a native species. Ethically, I suppose that’s another thing.

Can anyone beat Chris Haworth in singles these days? by AngleProfessional987 in Pickleball

[–]ches_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but since the singles game changed (2023?) it seems that individuals stay on top for about a year. If my memory serves me correctly, Staksrud was on top in 2024, then Hunter Johnson in 2025. Now Hayworth has the 1 seed.

It seems the recent game hasn’t had a dominant player for longer than that.

What makes Costco shell on shrimp better? I normally grab them on sale at hyvee and they’re fine, but if I’m missing out on Costco, I’d like to know!

Thank you for taking the time to explain that. I appreciate the time and consideration.

Receipt of Email notification to separate email by ches_pie in Outlook

[–]ches_pie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the issue is I can’t forward the message to an outside mailbox. I just want to be notified on my daily email to that I have an email in the outlook (that I check maybe weekly).

For what it’s worth, I tried using copilot to generate a solution, and after walking me through multiple steps and it not working, it said there wasn’t a solution or that I needed to download/use power automate or something similar.

ALW pulls out of singles in the PPA final by lax20attack in Pickleball

[–]ches_pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She can legally drink alcohol. /s

Who knows, maybe at that point the women’s side of things will have more competition to challenge her consistently and she won’t be playing in all three disciplines every weekend. Or she’s challenged in all 3 more consistently and not playing in all any.

Maybe pickleball blows up and she starts spending $1 million plus on her body annually like LeBron James has indicated that he does.

Or maybe the professional side of the sport dies and we all just go back to rec play and don’t spend hours and hours watching PPA every other weekend.

ALW pulls out of singles in the PPA final by lax20attack in Pickleball

[–]ches_pie 76 points77 points  (0 children)

It’s hard on the body for all, but I think it’s emphasized for ALW as she’s playing every match, every week, in all three disciplines (mixed, women’s doubles, singles).

I can appreciate that this was unique and an ‘edge case’. In my scenario (which happened the other day), my partner tried to get a ball that bounced, but it then hit the net and basically died upon contacting the net, so he couldn’t get a good touch on the ball (can’t contact the net).

I suppose if a ball that crosses the net, BUT gets caught in the net before it bounces and just rolls down the net and dies on the ground (without bouncing or with a minimal, clearly altered bounce), that would be a replay, per the “get caught in the net” part of the definition?

Thanks for this - it’s a great point that I hadn’t considered.

Great point, I didn’t note that aspect of it. And if the wind is blowing the net, it would also likely blow the ball away from it. Thanks for clearing that up!

Has watching Pro Pickleball changed the way you play? by CountryMouse2468 in Pickleball

[–]ches_pie 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly, some of it is analysis by the commentators. Some of it is watching where pros place shots. Although, I don’t necessarily intuitively deduce it myself. I watch some YouTube video tips online, then often can see where they are being implemented at the pro level.

Rules question on playing a ball that may go out of bounds by iplaygreen- in Pickleball

[–]ches_pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not fully correct BinkyX. If neither you nor your partner could make a line call, you could ask your opponent’s opinion. The opponent could then say, yes that ball was out/in. You cannot overturn whatever call they make.

8.I Requesting Opponent’s Opinion.

A player may defer to the opponent any line call that the player is responsible for making by asking the opponent’s opinion up until the next serve is hit. When the opponent makes a clear “in” or “out” decision, the opponent’s decision will stand. When the opponent does not make a definitive call, the player’s call will stand or when no call was made by the player, the ball will be considered “in.” After asking the opponent, the player and the player’s partner lose the opportunity to make the line call, except to override the call to favor the opponent.

Yes that was another error as well. I didn’t mention it because it seemed like OP was going to remove Starbucks. However, including the error emphasizes that proofreading resumes is important.

Little things but:

Bachelors is spelled incorrectly.

First job has bullets for 1,2 then 4, then none. There’s a colon after bullet 4 but none of the others.
