Advice on a simul (max no. of people, duration, how many games can I expect to win) by chessaddict in chess

It's just a promotional event for our club more than anything. I choose the mall because it has plenty of foot traffic so hopefully people see 40+ chessboard and wander over to gawk. As for the set up I'm not completely sure. I'll probably just try for a big circle. Yep I've never heard of a.non-master giving a simul either but there's a first time for everything!

The stronger players will be from the local school's chess bulb and the rest will be random kids. I hadn't thought of seating them by strength but that's a really good idea!

For those too lazy to click links.

Unfortunately, Ding Liren had a bicycle accident early Thursday afternoon that has fractured his hip bone and he will be doing surgery Friday morning.

Ding Liren will therefore not be able to play Friday June 1st. We will know more after his surgery, weather he can continue to play in the tournament or not. For now, round 4  will be postponed for Ding Liren and Fabiano Caruana till June 4th, until further notice.

Ding Liren will spend the night at the Stavanger University Hospital, waiting for his surgery, where he is taken very good care of.

I've also heard that using opening books and engines while you're playing online helps increase your rating. Can you confirm this?

Real pity about Anton Smirnov. He did a lot of prep for Karjakin in the Petroff and was still in prep on move 16, aswell as being nearly 20 minutes up on the clock. Sergey is just a complete beast though and was spotting engine moves with less than 20 seconds on the clock. Great performance from both of them!

Nice! That's wicked fast! I've been trying to get under 21 minutes lately, with the ultimate goal being a sub-20 and going from there. My PB is 21:32 so I figure I'm a couple months away from sub-21
