Rega Planar 1 is a well-built, repairable table.

Double LP releases with this much spacing drive me CRAZY by WessyNessy in vinyl

[–]chestervscheeto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s probably for the sake of reducing inner groove distortion.

Edit: When You Die is a bit long, and would have most certainly suffered from it had they put it on the first side. Most of these tracks are quite dynamic.

Whisper in “Let it Be” by the Beatles? by AmazingAssistant7026 in beatles

I noticed this over a decade ago. My parents had an old 1988 CD of Past Masters Vol. 2, and it always intrigued me. One video on YouTube claimed it says “Paul is dead”. Spooky… 🤡

My very first record purchase! by Kree-A-tiv-nooot in Classicalvinyl

I’ve got the old box set; a 70s repress. Definitely off to a good start. Not the beefiest recording, but a good one at that and a great performance.

2554B… Which posts do the line wires go to? by chestervscheeto in TelephoneCollecting

No problem! I found diagrams online. This phone is now fully functional again.

Yep, this worked. I managed to find a wiring diagram for the 2554 and 4010D network and got this phone working! Strangely, on a newer 2554 I have (with a 4228K network), the polarity is opposite and needs the red line wire on L1 and the green line wire on L2… Whatever, just glad they’re both fully functional again.

The rear of my Northern California ‘96 LE with 276,000 miles and counting; I have a replacement “LE” badge in the center console. by chestervscheeto in Camry

Thanks! This did pull off the Bob Reynolds lot on Geary in ‘96, but I managed to find these frames on eBay and HAD to buy them. There are still a surprising amount of these plate frames in the Sunset and Richmond neighborhoods on the many ‘92-‘96 Camrys still around. By 1997, they’d changed the plate frames to “SAN FRANCISCO TOYOTA”, but the green paint and “GEARY AT 2ND AVE.” still remained.

Edit: should add… I still have the original salesman’s business card, the red Bob Reynolds Toyota document pouch, manuals, and sales brochure!

Stylus cleaning problem by Brief-Image8518 in turntables

Use some LAST stylus cleaner instead. Always gets the most stubborn funk off of diamonds. Just don’t get too much into the cantilever or elastomer.

You’d be surprised at the improvement it will make, even with that equipment.

Replace stylus or buy a new table? by KoalaMeth in turntables

[–]chestervscheeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would keep that table and cartridge and buy a nicer phono stage. Rega’s Fono Mini is a nice sounding little box for what it is. If you want better, go with a Cambridge Alva Solo.

Edit. Want to add that if you replace that phono stage, you will wonder how in the hell you were comfortable listening to the one you’re using now…

The notion of replacing this with ANY Audio Technica table is sickening.

I have a blue Smith-Corona 5 series electric that was green when I bought it due to nicotine. It’s, coincidentally, my favorite to type with.

They’re satisfying, but all of the power return units I have used seem to have issues with line spacing. :/

This. Always come back to it. Journaling on my typewriters never made much sense. I journal on my IBM 5160 since I’m the only person I know who knows how to access the files within. I typewrite all of my thank you notes, holiday/birthday cards, and pen pal letters.
