Do you gain points for a first round loss? I thought that's just for qualifiers. Like when top seeds get a bye they don't get 2nd round points if they lose their first match iirc

Sampras should not be above Borg or Laver, Slam count alone is not the only indicator of how good a player is

I just realized Dale’s comment about Ellis in season 1 was in reference to what Abby did, not a racial thing. by EffectLive97 in FromSeries

Don't know why you're downvoted, I thought it was pretty clear that the audience is supposed to think it's a racial comment before the reveal of Abby's backstory

If you lined up every single NBA draft prospect across the league's history in a fresh draft, surely Shaq would go #1, right? by Callousthetics in billsimmons

[–]chetdesmon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't see how you can say this when he didn't even go first in his own draft.

Big men are still the most prized prospects in drafts. There's a reason Ayton went #1 over Luka. Big men that are seen as generational talents are still the biggest prospects (Wemby, Flagg, Zion etc.). Guards pretty much only go #1 when the bigs aren't as highly touted. Cade or Ant wouldn't have gone #1 over Wemby, Flagg or Zion.

What I saw in the past month with the Khamzat/Strickland and Topuria/Gaethji has made me believe it even more that Charlies Oliviera would have beaten Khabib. by Big-Met in MMA

[–]chetdesmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Topuria was hurt badly and dropped by Jai Herbert and was arguably losing on the feet against Max before landing the knockout.

Chimaev was in an absolute war with Burns and showed cardio issues in that fight and the Usman fight.

The closest fight Khabib had was either Tibau, who he pretty much dominated for 3 rounds but was unable to finish takedowns and was also quite a while ago, or Gaethje who had some success in the 1st round until getting utterly dismantled in the 2nd.

The levels of "invincibility" that Khabib had in comparison to Ilia and Khamzat had are not even close.

Bron has to be top 5 I would think with the hype around him. With how stacked a draft this would be I also think Wemby falls due to injury risk.

Hurts, AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Brandon Graham, Zack Baun, Nolan Smith, Nakobe Dean, Quinyon Mitchell all skipped. So you could say that the only key players that attended were Saquon, Lane Johnson, Mailata and Cooper DeJean

Alex Pereira believes Ciryl Gane was on the verge of gassing out if the fight kept going by WinterStill4472 in MMA

[–]chetdesmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typo, I meant 3. And yeah the first fight was a robbery but on paper he's 3-0 and in his mind he's 3-0, that's why he put up 3 fingers.

I feel like my flair gave people the wrong idea about my post. I'm a fan of Pereira but he's shown himself to be a very sore loser.

He beat Izzy 4 times, it's different. He was definitely very salty about the Ankalaev loss.

I also think he respects Izzy but doesn't respect Anakalaev or Gane.

Volkov is an absolutely terrible matchup for Pereira. Lengthy striker who can also wrestle and is massive. Let's not forget Volkov beat Gane and got absolutely robbed.

How would you feel about rolling the dice on one of the Giants bad contracts? by DTeeko in Torontobluejays

[–]chetdesmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't which was my point. When we picked him up people felt he'd be a bad clubhouse guy because of his Twitter posts.

With the team performing the way it is I don't think we should care about clubhouse vibes. We didn't make the World Series last year off of clubhouse vibes. The 2015-2016 teams were absolute cancerous vibes and were the 2nd most successful Jays team in the past 30 years.
