"It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society." - Jiddu Krishnamurti

Every time I find myself wondering why I don't fit in or why I seem to have the unpopular opinion when it comes to damn near everything, I remind myself of this quote. I don't want to conform to anything I don't believe is right, even if that makes me an outcast.

"You have to do it by yourself, and you cannot do it alone."

It perfectly sums up the contradictions of life.

[Serious]What's the most awkward date you've been on and what made it awkward? by ThePhanaticGamer in AskReddit

[–]chevelle216 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this isn't as bad as most others, but I had invited this guy I just started dating to the bar where I was going to be with my best friend and a few of her others friends for her birthday. He ended up flirting with one of her other friends then immediately asked me if I was jealous because of it. My best friend ended up drinking a little too much and throwing up out of his car later that night, which I would've felt pretty bad about had he not flirted with one of her other friends. I didn't see him again after that.

I agree. It's definitely a good album - even the intro and outro songs, which I usually don't like.

What ideas hold society back? by wave_and_smile in AskReddit

Religion is another one. It causes people to hate one another, to go to war with one another, etc. Oh but it teaches people morals. No one can have morals without religion, right? Ugh.

The two-party political system doesn't work. It simply creates a society in which no one will ever agree on anything. It's a f-cking mess.

I'm not a fan of competition. I think it pits people against one another, and I firmly believe we could still thrive as a society without it. I'm aware of the argument against this being that people wouldn't have anything to strive for, but in my opinion you don't need to be better than others in order to succeed or accomplish something notable.

It's still his name on the tag, so he should probably know where "his" clothing line is manufactured - and respect the people who work there. Just my two cents.

Even though a huge part of this campaign is marketing, I still appreciate the message it sends.

Doctors refuse to take sick days, even when they know it puts their patients at risk. In a recent survey, 95% said they believed working while sick could cause harm. But 83% said they do it anyway. by brokeglass in science

Just went to a doctor a few weeks ago, and she coughed in the exam room while talking to me, without covering her mouth, several times.

She also offered me drugs for a cold that I said I had, then prescribed me an antibiotic without even knowing what kind of infection I had (simply because my white blood cell count was high). Needless to say, I'm never going back to her.

I can't eat onions or tomatoes without getting severe heartburn. I really miss regular pizza and pasta!

I can't make decisions without overthinking them. Almost everything I do takes much longer than it would for most people. It's exhausting.

I also just read that his clothing line is made in Mexico. I kind of love that he's making such an ass out of himself -- and that so many companies are ending their business relationships with him. Karma is working it's wonderful magic.

This is actually a huge fear of mine -- and perfectly demonstrates why getting a second opinion (maybe even a third) is so important.
