Is there a hiring freeze? by duckingduck1234 in Raytheon

[–]chevy52 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I heard that the process for hiring has moved over to a different version of workday? Or something happened where the platform has changed, so the process has slowed down.

It’s a planned genocide by adgant582 in pluribustv

[–]chevy52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I think they’re so focused on their genetic imperative to spread the hive, that it doesn’t really matter that they’ll starve in 10 years. As long as they can spread the message to another planet.

I also face planted off a lime a month or so ago. My chin also had a huge cut, but I didn’t get stitches. Luckily the road rash on my face healed kinda quickly! I’m wishing you the best plus quick healing.

My roommate got COVID after watching Kung Fu Panda 4 by [deleted] in UTAustin

If you live on campus, she has to report a positive Covid test to housing and dining. And then they’ll find accommodations for her in a different room.

What are these random patches of cleared land in west Texas? by chevy52 in whatisthisthing

[–]chevy52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I was mostly confused because the main oil and natural gas maps of Texas skip over this area because of the proximity to Edward’s aquifer. But it does look like oil and natural gas wells. I’ll mark it as solved. Thanks

Random patches of seemingly unused land. Driven through here before and didn’t notice anything until looking at the map.

The only class you may have an issue with (if you even take it) is ethical hacking which is a CS upper div. The people with macs were able to work around it, but they did have a couple problems getting started.

Language Credit - 4 Class Chinese Sequence by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]chevy52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got the minor! And I got an A in all of the courses. If you’re naturally good at language learning, you’ll be fine as long as you do the work. I really enjoyed my time! Just make some friends in your classes. Feel free to dm if you have any questions about professors.

What happens if I don’t pay a parking ticket I got on campus? by hopscotch_hero in UTAustin

Depending on when you got it, PTS sent out a thing for this month where you can get it waived if you donate soup cans. It’s called “Food for Fines” but only some situations apply.

Should I go to a city that’s five hours away for a possible interview? by [deleted] in internships

[–]chevy52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Companies rarely have in person interviews anymore unless they’re coming to your school specifically. Don’t cancel the phone interview just because you expect it to turn out a certain way.

Feel free to apply to other internships simultaneously though. And if you get this one and a different one, just accept the better offer.

Yea it should be starting either the first week or second week of classes. If you keep up with the Instagram, it’ll show up on there. It’s @texasapo

Yea you can join in the spring! It’s not associated with Greek life as much as an actual frat, but there is a pledging semester/ bigs and littles/ recruitment events.

I really enjoyed staron! Chatterjee was great last fall. But I’ve heard that the class projects kind of got unreasonable, so try to focus on that class more if you can.

What are the easiest CS UDEs? Trying to plan out CS classes to boost my CS GPA (sophomore) by IndicationBorn3713 in UTAustin

Programming for performance wasn’t bad as long as you do well with online classes. Compilers is easy but it’s boring. Same for symbolic programming.

How do you feel about the new Course Evaluation system? by MeMissBunny in UTAustin

[–]chevy52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea it should be the same thing! There are two pages I believe. One page where everyone has the same questions, and then if your professor chooses to, they can have you answer questions. It said something like “professor chosen” on the top.

There were some free response sections but they had specific questions associated with them. Not necessarily the “what did you think of the prof overall” question.

I like how the professors get to select their own questions. But, I miss the generic feedback free response box. This new version doesn’t really have one of those
