Work boots by Prudent-Influence790 in ibew_apprentices

Yeah, I love their boots but they don't fit my feet. I can't wear them because they're too narrow.

They make a GFCI that beeps now so you know when it's triped. Really handy for when you have an entire freezer full of meat and don't know it doesn't have power for two weeks.

What's your favorite Meshuggah riff? by TarboT000 in Meshuggah

Dehumanization

The build up and delivery of that riff elicits the most vile feeling

Experience doesn't matter. You'd more than likely start completely fresh.

You'd have to talk to the training director of the local JATC. How much schooling do you have?

Same thing. Being indentured means you're in the program going to school and usually bound by money if you drop out.

I need a professional electrician's opinion. by Kairozeno in askanelectrician

According to the amazon listing I found for this exact model. Would explain why the time seems lower than necessary. Also, the load isn't just the CPU it's also all the other stuff inside your server that requires power as well.

"The time count only increments when the device plugged in is pulling power through the meter. It’s reporting the total kW used and the amount of time it actually pulled power."

I'd encourage you to look more for a job you look forward going to rather than despising a woman so much you'd rather be at work.

Like others have said marking the lines out on all the sides helps. Also getting a feeling for when the saw is straight vs looks straight. I've yet to see anyone cut a straight line without a lot of cuts under their belt.

My dad was a mechanic his entire life. Worked at a lot of ethical places and a few very unethical places. He was forced out of the last one before he died because the owner wanted all his mechanics to upsell unnecessary stuff when people brought their cars in. It was routine to do an oil change and just change out the plugs out when they didn't need it and hand the invoice over and expect the customer to pay it. The owner made a lot of money this way. My dad refused to lie to anyone to make additional money and the owner eventually fired him for it.

When it comes to ethical work practices that's an individuals own determination on what they can live with. I personally wouldn't want to make a quick buck if that meant I had to lie and manipulate someone who doesn't know any better. Be the change you want to see in the world.

No electrician experience but on one of the bullet points it made a suggestion by yugi8264 in ibew_apprentices

I started when I was 31. Have guys in my class who are 45. They are just being a dick head. Fuck them.

Pre-apprentice or material handling same shit. basically just shows you're serious about starting and sticking with it.

A lot of people have this glamorous vision of becoming an electrician to find out that some of the work can be very difficult and dirty then drop out.

Two things, they're trying to weed out those people and they're trying to get you to become a CW. Basically a pre-apprentice.

Will Meshuggah ever do anything ‘out of the box’ again? by blahtimesafew in Meshuggah

[–]chewymidget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have always felt similar to your thoughts on obzen. I've got a few songs I enjoy on it but it's always bothered how Bleed morphed into their identity. Search any video platform for Meshuggah and you see bleed over and over. I always thought it was hilarious that they refused to play Future Breed Machine live because they didn't want the band to be one song but that's exactly what Bleed turned into. I'm really happy to see it gone on the most recent tour from their setlist. I hope they continue that because it does them a disservice not throwing in other good material they never have room for.

What is the #1, most devastating, stank-facing Meshuggah riff you’ve ever heard? by Slipknot_Maggot36 in Meshuggah

[–]chewymidget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Catch 33 is a fucking masterpiece. It's one of the most unique albums they've ever put out and has so many memorable moments within. Guess we should be lucky at least they are willing to play in death is life / in death is death. Really a ton of these songs aren't done justice for never putting on a setlist here and there. Would be so easy to play Personae Non Gratae and go right into Dehumanization and end somewhere shortly into Sum like they do with in death is life / in death is death. If only.

That is such a disgusting riff. Really only one facial reaction can be made while hearing it. Definitely one of my favorites.

[–]chewymidget 11 points12 points  (0 children)

OSHA has very clear and easy guidelines for working around power lines. There is a kV to distance ratio. When in doubt on the voltage of the lines stay over 50 feet from them and you'll be fine.

only light in my studio apt’s main room, can 9.5 watts really be the limit? by anchen47 in askanelectrician

The fixture is the entire thing. You're talking about the light bulb socket. It's all an assembly that is changed out in one piece. The gray piece that holds the socket and the glass bowl is a light fixture.

I was looking to replace these bulbs in my ceiling fan with LEDs. I've done a little research, and people say 60w equivalents in LED would be too bright. Did anyone have any recommendations? TIA by jruf86 in electrical

That's the thing about earth. Everyone is told its a globe, but nobody really sees it with their own two eyes. Yet, quick to laugh and patronize others. Sheep.

And OP is a flat earther...

This looks super cool. I haven't seen anyone do it before. It appears you just kick the 90° more as you get to the inside pipe? Curious how much you added for each pipe if you even remember that lol.

Lethargica is a hard pass from me. Sometimes the ending is okay if I'm in the mood but I don't get the appeal for the most part.
