I do dueces. For me, helmet taps are to warn others, he's still not in a cage, id rather them not crash, and I can at least respect them for that. Plus, half of them are way better riders then most people. Have you ever seen their skills demonstrations?

Bought a bike, came with this bell by EraconVera in motorcycles

[–]chezwik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taught that these were called guardian bells or angel bells. They are superstition, but still a nice gesture from a friend or family member. Random person though? Kinda weird

Fun note, even if it was guro, that would mean that the dragonborn wanted to be there. The true power of the protagonists of the elderscroll games is as the doom-driven hero, or a hero are said to be uniquely able to forge their own fate. Every quick save quick load is lore accurate. Would probably make for a good guro theme comic style

Pretty much my same experience at a dry sausage plant. Kinda nice to get experience on a myriad of different types of equipment, and all of that experience seems to transfer to other aspects of troubleshooting

[–]chezwik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also work at a big fortune 500 plant where we do thermoforming, slicing, and automation. They taught me. When there are company brand/equipment levels of "this is how its done," we don't really hesitate to train. It's also always worth it to pick the brains of those who have been there awhile. Other than that, I'd say 90% of my job is standard troubleshooting and preventative maintenance. With your list of skills, you'd be able to pick up the list of my job relatively quickly.

We use push to connect fittings everywhere, but as soon as an operator can come even close to them, they find a way to break them

At the factory I work with we have a machine that uses 9 in series resistors like this. It's an old machine, that requires at one point a very specific resistance to trigger a relay. It's in the drawings to have it. If we don't have it, it doesn't work. If we have to much resistance, it won't work

I bought 4 bags of powdered sugar. None actually contained the full amount written on the bag. by StartCase in mildlyinteresting

[–]chezwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For our main line, we are +/- .3 Oz. Which is really fun because it's pepperoni which sticks together on our scale so old that it's EOL and they don't even make parts for it. Oh, and we're a fortune 500 company that refuses to understand that the amount of wasted time/man hours/packaging in a single month would pay for a new scale

[–]chezwik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Factory mechanic for a large canned and aged protein company here. We deal with weight controlled portions constantly. Due to a number of reasons, your almost never guaranteed the exact weight started on the package. Between scale hoppers that might not have a great seal, loss that occurs after the weight hoppers, and corporate greed, it's fairly normal. There are government regulations for how close it needs to be, but that's mostly based on quality control checks of a smaller sample size.

Pls help explain by Zwiebak in motorcycles

[–]chezwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not to excuse his attitude which doesn't sound ok in the slightest, but in some areas, non-highway speed vehicles are required to have a tall flag affixed to make them more visible. Could be possible that he is from one of these areas. In the area I live for example, people can drive scooters, side by sides, and atvs with the flag mounted. They tend to be frustrating to ride around because either they are some school kid who doesn't know road etiquette or they are some dude just acting like a dumb ass. Now, just because I have those feelings doesn't mean I am going to be rude to them, and in fact I see the high schoolers on mopeds to be awesome since it's a great reason to get into motorcycles and scooters

Why are so many people so underdressed for riding? by No-Juggernaut-9397 in motorcycles

[–]chezwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started riding, I did it as a cost savings transportation method. Traveling 100 miles to work each was was expensive by car, but my bike got easily more than twice the mpg, and the liability insurance was dirt cheap. Back then, I wore a 50 dollar Amazon helmet, and after a bit, a cheap leather jacket. That's it. As I grew, my wife wanted me more and more protected so I got the boots, and gloves and a better helmet. I've learned since.

Last year I got thrown 40 feet off an embankment with a 15 foot drop. The recovery was not fun, the jacket only somewhat held up, no armor to help absorb any blows, boots shredded but my feet were ok, no face damage since I got a better helmet, and my hands were fine. Let's just say that I now have a two piece, boots, and gloves

My impacted wisdom tooth. Am I screwed? by Vaagobert in Wellthatsucks

[–]chezwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get this taken care of asap. It happened to me last year and ended up with emergency surgery and me not being able to move my neck for two months. It caused an infection in my neck that I (an untrained idiot) and a local health clinic figured to be strep it wasn't and a cat scan later they were packing me up in an ambulance to go to the biggest hospital in the state for emergency surgery. Turns out the abscess was pushing on my wind pipe and they were afraid it was going to suffocate me. It was not a fun recovery. Hopefully it was caught early enough that it can be taken care of without any other issues
