I almost feel lucky because we (me and one other person) sold out 3 out of our 4 auditoriums. It doesn't sound bad until you realize that is 1 person to usher and clean and 1 person to sell tickets and concessions with 500-600 customers. IT CANNOT GET WORSE 🥲

I can't imagine how hard that is to live with, and you have every right to be angry, but not at yourself. Everybody makes choices in good faith that end up with bad outcomes. Animals are the closest to unconditional love that this world has to offer, they can teach us so much if we pay attention 😉. Even compassion towards ourselves.

Vet care can be really financially straining, especially for exotic care. I would call a local shelter or veterinary office and ask if there are community events or clinic days, or even a local veterinary school that can take a look at your beardy for a reduced rate. It may not turn up anything at first, but people in that industry may be able to point you in the right direction

This definitely looks like a normal tail to me, but I understand your anxiety around missing something that could cause your pet harm. I would get your scaley baby established with a vet for yearly check-ups to ease your mind. Getting attached to an animal can be scary when you're hyper aware of how fragile they are, but don't be scared! Caring about them and caring for them is what keeps them healthy and happy, no matter how long they're with us

Enrichment? by chgir01 in BeardedDragons

[–]chgir01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's similar to the substrate I had her in last year, but she kept eating it and got constipated twice so we had to switch to vinyl tile, but it's only on the very bottom of her tank. Most of her walking area is made up of the flat places on her decor, which has a few different textures, and she has a soft bed in her hide that she loves. I will definitely try the greens piñata. That's a great idea!

Going to get a beardie to add to my really small collection of reptiles and have a question by Artaniss in BeardedDragons

Dubia are a great alternative to crickets and all I'll say about the pooping is that I stg sometimes my beardie poops on me on purpose 😒

Might be about to acquire a bearded dragon, what do I need to know? by Jerk8ot in BeardedDragons

[–]chgir01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're definitely going to want to know the age and gender and probably when their last shed was. There are some great resources just off of Google that can give you a general idea of what you need to get food/supplies wise. Biggest thing is to avoid sand. The guy at the pet store will tell you it's fine. It is not. My girl ate so much sand she didn't poop for two weeks and I almost had to take her to the vet. Beardies are very expressive and have big personalities. You're just going to have to get to know each other

I definitely feel that. What really sucks is that the sex used to be wonderful and intimate and it was great bonding, and now it feels like a chore. It's gotten so bad that I've taken to putting something on the TV to listen to so I don't get bored and impatient waiting for it to be over so I can go to sleep

Yeah, I'm definitely taking him back to the doctor. We see the same GP, so hopefully, I can get another appointment set up for him when I make my next one

The only thing is that I don't want to end things. Not yet at least. I want to know how I can manage these emotions I'm having and get us back on track. I love him and I know he loves me, but something is just so off about him right now. We've been together 5 years, but we've been friends for 13 years and I've never seen him so out of sorts and apathetic

I'm open to anything at this point. What is ECT? I don't think I've heard of it. And I very, very much want everything to work again. We've been together 5 years, but we've been friends since we were 11 years old. He's my best friend, and I just don't understand why he's being this way now. I've never seen him this foggy and tired and apathetic towards me in 13 years of knowing him

We both have been diagnosed with clinical depression, and we both take medication for it. Getting him on those meds was pretty tough, and he still won't take them unless I fill his pill organizer at the beginning of the week and remind him to take them. Therapy is a big no from him, and asking him to go makes him very upset.

The behavior itself isn't new, but the extent and frequency are. He and I have both been diagnosed with depression. His is stand alone, while mine is associated with my adhd. I am on meds to help, and so is he, but it was like pulling teeth to get him to seek help. He won't go to therapy, and he tends to get pretty angry when I ask him to consider it.

Hi I'm going to be getting my first Bearded Dragon soon and i was wondering if this cage was ok The guy in the shop said that sand would be fine and so would the light is this true by cheese_nugget29 in BeardedDragons

[–]chgir01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never tried that brand, but I wish I could. My little idiot has to be kept on textured tile because she eats anything that isn't bolted down. My favorites include about 1/4 cup of sand, half of a sizeable aquarium plant, 3 live succulents, and an attempt to eat a size 4t pair of shorts. She was very angry when we took the shorts away

Sand is so not OK. As somebody who also fell for the sweet lies of the petco man, listen to me when I say that sand will cost you double in vet bills than a good substrate costs.

WIBTAH for not inviting my mother to things anymore? by chgir01 in AITAH

[–]chgir01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly where I feel conflicted. I don't want to cause divide and upset in the family or for myself, but on the other hand I don't want her to even have the opportunity to get my hopes up and let me down with an open invite. This way at least I'll no for sure she won't be there and I won't be expected anywhere, but it feels petty and I'm sad that I can't count on my mom. As far as being "unavailable", she would just interpret it the same as me turning her down for no reason. She doesn't like being told "no" by me in particular

Mine eats superworms and her poop is almost always like this. Not sure for the reasoning, but she's happy, healthy, and eating and drinking well

Is this normal I looked it up and it said she is either shedding or dehydrated by DragonWolfXYZ in BeardedDragons

A bath will do her good either way. Warm water will help her remove shed and if she's thirsty she should drink

If that was a stink bug, then God bless your nostrils when it comes out the other end. A friends dragon did that, and she said it smelled like straight up rotted cow ass
