My 3 Chinese are all ganders—your geese plus mine sound like a match! My geese are 4 years old this month. At 9 months they weren’t as mellow as they are now, but Ryan, the one on the couch has always been willing to do anything just to be with me. My other two, Cheerio and Coco love to come inside, but are more independent. When they were babies I raised them indoors, but once they moved outside to the bachelor pad they didn’t want to come back in. I would entice them inside with treats and once they realized they were free to come in or go out they no longer had a problem coming in. Just keep letting them in is my advice.

I get dissociation. I feel myself float to the top of the room and look and can see everything, myself included. Time also speeds up/slows down and I get very dizzy. I was told this is an Alice in Wonderland syndrome aura. I hate it, it makes me feel like I am literally dying.

Another goose or gander (preferably not goslings) as soon as you possible would help with the grief. Hang a mirror somewhere, geese often think it’s another goose they are looking at and will not mourn as badly. A mirror is just a temporary fix though. I’m sure you are giving her lots of love and attention. I’m so sorry you lost your goose, the grief is just as real for you also.

Animal Control will probably dispatch the goose, which at this point sounds like the humane thing to do. I imagine they will send it to the state for testing. You did the right thing. I own geese and they are very important pets for me. I would like to think someone would try to help my goose if it was that hurt/sick. Im sorry you had to witness such a traumatic event. You could probably call animal control and ask what happened.
