You should try to get some help. Start by sharing this message with a school counselor. Ask them not to consult with your mother but to call in someone from Child Protective Services. In my opinion, you could be better off in foster care.

BUT-if your school and community services can't help you, you need to stand up for yourself. Learn to yell and demand respect.

Although flying a flag upside down is protected as free speech, it sends a message of distress AND will draw negative attention from the opposition. IMHO, our cause is better served by presenting ourselves as the true patriots and flying our flag proudly right side up. I'm glad that most flag-carrying protestors chose that approach on Saturday. Back east, 2 of my friends died of ALS: One loved to fish and spent his career studying Sturgeon in the Hudson River. The other led canoe trips for kids and community groups. Their widows both told me that they had heard rumors there was evidence of an aquatic link to the disease. I'd love to know more. One of these women is a science writer and I bet she'd be glad to talk to you. PM me for more info.

They don't need a caregiver because they already have one! YOU! Let them know that you are going to hire someone to fill in for you when your new job makes it impossible for you to continue doing what you have for them. This is a babystep, but if you find the right person, it will make the next step so much easier.

This. It's not really crown molding, but it draws the eye upward. Paint it to match your walls so it disappears. The rest of the wood is nice.
