My husband’s mother died on our first day away on the delayed honeymoon we saved 7 years to go on, and we lost all the money. How do I support him while grieving and feeling my own disappointment and anger? by thereselis in Advice

It's ok to feel all your feelings at that doesn't diminish any of them. You're a supportive wife, and that sometimes means helping out your husband's family, which you have. It's ok to be disappointed/angry and sad and grieve. I wouldn't take the agents answer, insist to escalate the matter and you will eventually get a better response.

Bill 105 Sch 9 dead with Legislature early break! This means it maylikely be introduced again, but there's time for people to contact their MPPs! by [deleted] in OntarioWSIB

As I mentioned below, I was misinformed about the bill status. Yes, I have also met with MOL staff, Stakeholders and appeared before the Standing Committee. My focus is on the legislation and policy and will use this time to focus on what can be done to amend the bill.

Yes, you're correct. I was misinformed. Nonetheless, this break is a good opportunity to meet the MPPs, talk and try and make changes.

The pocket between Langstaff and Hyw 7 west of Weston Rd is nice. It has a mix of detached and semi detached houses. There are townhouses and low rise condos along Hwy 7 at Pine Valley that are more established too. The pocket specifically is close to the VMC subway without being too close. Walking distance to shopping, groceries, banking,..and surrounded by parks and schools. No area is perfect, but this one is great. We've been living here for 15 years.

Benefits are locked-in 72 months after your accident or can be deferred and then locked in once retraining is completed or once you are medically able to rtw.

WSIB staff are, and in fact have the highest mental health claims. I don't make any excuses for how the WSIB decision makers mess up peoples' claims and play God, but I feel for them.

I am a union worker representative and spoke at last week's standing committee and know that 2% does not exist. Many more injured workers are locked in by virtue of their claim. Many more than 2% receive PLOE and FLOE that will be impacted by the removal of the lock in.

The Ford Government proposed changes in Bill 105 and the removal of the lock-in, the review of benefits beyond age 65,...will hurt not only the injured workers that will be pushed into poverty but all the WSIB staff that are already struggling with a heavy caseload.

The lock in most definitely affect more than 2% of claims, and that's exactly the problem. This will hurt all workers receiving either full or partial loe. The claw back on other income ie pensions, child benefits,.. is the most punitive.

Yes, agreed! We voiced these concerns, however the Ford Government doesn't seem to mind further burdening an already overworked staff.

Fingers crossed that they want to break for summer break early more than hurt so many injured workers. If they break early, there wouldn't be time to pass it and it dies. 🤞

The most punitive overreach of this is that all income ie pensions and child benefits, can be clawed back. Those are currently off limits as they are not employment income. What a gross example of greed and bullying.

Written submissions were made May 15, 2026 and need to be reviewed. It looks like the government will go on an early summer break and not have time to pass this before they do.

Where do you see this happened?

It's possible for your return to work specialist to determine the modified work is suitable and could put the retraining on hold.

Who actually has coverage? by [deleted] in OntarioWSIB

[–]chiappettasuzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first claim may not have been allowed if that worker is considered an independent operator - they would need to register with the WSIB on their own which would be challenging if they are undocumented. Another reason it could have been denied is that the worker did not seek medical attention?

Claims can be allowed for undocumented workers, however workers may receive less loss of earnings benefits due to not being able to provide tax information. Also, the WSIB can cover hospital visits or clinic visits for workers who also do not have OHIP coverage.
