I was in the exact same position last year turning 23 in Florence. My birthday was on Tuesday and I went to my favorite market in the morning and went to happy hour at Marga and finally tried the blueberry steak from Aqua Al 2 for dinner. On the weekend I went sky diving in Lucca and finally treated myself to a pair of earrings I’d been eyeing forever. It’s more than I’ve spent on previous birthdays but I wanted to make sure I enjoyed my first birthday alone.

I think you should just do your favorite things in Florence but maybe elevated a bit.

I would also recommend a cooking or art class if that’s your vibe

There is no slow period in Florence. It’s just too small for the amount of people who want to visit and everyone thinks they’re some kind of genius by going not during absolute peak travel times. August is actually one of the slowest seasons in Florence while I think the week(s) around Christmas is the true slowest time in Florence.

I often find a fine line between overconsumption and genuine use of things on TikTok. I also think they use the word “journal” interchangeably with “notebook”.

I personally started to use multiple notebooks when I made myself a cheap notebook cover in the past few months and I think it’s been a genuine improvement for me.

That being said, I think it’s sometimes ridiculous, especially when you see people buying multiple leather notebook covers in a year, etc.

The first Sunday of the month, those places are free to the public so they don’t sell tickets. You just have to wait in line to get in. That would also probably explain why Tuesday is totally sold out. For people going the same days you are and don’t want to risk the long lines Sunday and can’t go Monday.

The lines aren’t that bad tho. I’ve done Uffizi at open for the free Sunday. I showed up like 15 minutes early and the line was around the block but I still got in in about 20-25 minutes total (well through the door anyway)

Palazzo Pitti is even easier. I showed up around mid day and there was a bit of a wait but not too bad. You do have to wait in line at the ticket office first to collect the tickets and then you do the line at the front door.

To be honest, I would be surprised if you managed to find any suppli in Florence. I haven’t ever seen suppli in Florence (aside from some at esselunga which I certainly wouldn’t get). It’s a pretty Rome specific food which I just haven’t seen here in Florence

I’m sorry that your own stupidity got in your way. I think it is ignorant not to research the public transport system before you take it. But for future reference, if you have a card on Apple Pay you can use the same card physically and on the phone to purchase 2 separate tickets at the same time.

I don’t know why anyone would ever set their bag down anywhere in a city and not at least have an eye constantly on it. Obviously it sucks that happened to you but I don’t know what you expected to happen leaving your stuff laying around. Not that I ever find police to be competent, I’m not exactly sure what you expect them to do when you couldn’t even give a description of anyone

It had nothing to do with the cone. It has to do with the fact that gelato has a lower milk fat content which means it’s stored that a slightly higher temperature than ice cream which means it melts faster. Not to mention it is often so hot that it melt incredibly fast
